I’ve heard of kids who barely touch their 1st birthday cake, or are a little scared about the whole thing (Lorelai took a little bit to warm up!), or gag when they eat it (like Macy!). So I was interested to see what Kye would do. I was pretty sure he’d dig right in and love it but you never know!
Luckily I was right!!! He would have FINISHED it off it we hadn’t stopped him haha!
Before I post a TON of pics, I wanna thank Robyn! She has a WAY nicer camera than I do and she captured so many amazing pictures. Thank you thank you thank you! Ashley also helped out taking pics during the party with my camera but I took over for the cake shots π
Everyone sang “Happy Birthday” while I brought in the cake and blew out the candle before my child grabbed the flame! Here’s a video of Kye enjoying his first bites of cake!
no too sure
first bite
digging in!
Mommy and Daddy getting in on the action
Daddy wanted a bite
Mommy just didn’t want to get any on her haha
What’s that saying about a fat kid loving some cake…I think Kye’s the fat kid haha
Aunt Karen cheered on the craziness!
“arms up”
my favorite! he just looks so in love with it!
it’s like he’s begging for it not to leave…
clean up time!
I was SO go with the flow that I let Kye keep his special birthday shirt on for the cake fun. I figured it’s only going to be worn on that ONE day so why not have it in as many pictures as possible? I even let him just stay in it after he was done so he sported chocolate frosting shirt the rest of the party π And YES it ALL came out!!! Even the red food coloring frosting came out of the pants! Here is my laundry secret π
We did the cake around 4:45ish and he took his time enjoying it. I wasn’t going to take it away from him (I mean it IS his birthday after all!) but several people said I should because it could make him sick. Good call! We took it away and he didn’t mind, he just went back to playing with his friends and opening presents! At 6:00 he still drank 8 oz of formula then ate his ENTIRE dinner! His stomach was filled to max capacity for SURE! And the next morning his poop was seriously straight up chocolate frosting haha. He did have a little bit of a tough time falling asleep but I don’t know if it was the sugar or just ALL the excitement. Once he fell asleep (it only took about 20 min or so) he was out for the night!
He loved it so much which made me so happy! I see why it’s so tempting for parents to give their kids sweets, they just love them!!! While he still won’t enjoy sweets very often I do plan on baking him another cake for his actual birthday for our little family to share π
After the party was over we had a nice time with Mom and I was glad that Kye had some energy left in him to open the rest of her gifts (she did TOO much, no surprise!) and play with her some just the two of them!
Since Gage is a hardcore bachelor he’s clueless about what kids like so he brought “Kye” some Fresh Beginnings Cookies for his birthday! Of course Zach claimed them all as his and was freaking out after the party when he saw that half of the tin was empty! He immediately blamed Ashley then Casey and while Kye was opening Mom’s gifts he was panicking worried where the missing cookies were. Mom cracked up and finally fessed up and said they hid them in one of our cabinets! Too funny π
