Birthday Letter from Daddy

Last year Zach and I both wrote a birthday letter to Kye (you can read his here) and I think it’s a nice idea to do one each year. Sure we fill out a birthday card for him but you KNOW 20 years from now he’ll be more likely to read these blog posts (especially once I finally make them into more blog books…) than he is some old birthday cards. Plus pictures make things more fun! Here’s Zach’s letter to Kye for this year and I’ll be posting mine later today 🙂

Kye,

First of all I love being your daddy! You have brought so much joy to my life. Thinking back on your second year puts a huge smile on my face. The only regret I have is that I feel like I missed out on too much. I worked so hard to provide for you and mommy, that I was gone a little more than I would like to be. When I was working I would think about you a lot. I would read mommy’s blog and look at all the pictures and I couldn’t wait to see you. And then when I get home you always do one of my favorite things. You hear the door open and run through the house saying “daddy home, daddy home.” My heart melts every time.

There are so many great memories from this past year. All the vacation times with you at the beach. I remember you running into the water for the first time with pure joy on your face. Thinking about how much you love hotel rooms. All the times I set up your crib with the sheet around it.
You are definitely a fun vacation partner.

I also enjoy all the man time we spent together. Golfing in the yard, you helping me cut the grass or build something, playing golf, “2,4,6” (throwing you on the bed), building toys at Lowes, and watching all my old game film when Mommy is not here. I think we bonded this past year in so many ways.

I hope one day you can cherish all the special moments we shared together. I look at you and have so many hopes and dreams for the future. As I watch you grow I realize that I should appreciate the time we spend now because before I know it, it will be gone.

I love you so much!
