This morning officially started my every two week check-ups. Since it was my random glucose screening test I decided not to bring Kye along. I enjoy having him hear the heartbeat, but honestly he gets pretty bored at the appointments so I think I’ll try to schedule them when he’s at school at least until the ultrasound one. Zach is in Columbus so he missed another appointment (His third time missing this pregnancy, and def not his last. Boo! But the man has to make a living!) but I honestly didn’t mind going alone. I knew it would be very long so I brought along my Disney planning supplies so I could take notes to add to our itinerary for next week π I enjoyed the down time!
I met Mrs. Charlotte and she took Kye and Payton (Colt has school on Tues, Wed, Thur) to Chicfila to play while I had my visit. All my vitals looked good and I had to drink the nasty sugary drink for the test. I wasn’t allowed to eat anything sugary before my appointment and I realized that pretty much knocked out ALL my breakfast choices (I typically will eat either Cinnamon Toast Crunch, a Poptart, or toast with cinnamon and brown sugar on it haha). The drink was so sugary that I felt pretty nauseous from it. I got back to see Stacy almost right after I drank the drink so the appointment moved pretty quickly for me.
I gave Stacy the final copy of my birth plan and she’s reviewing it with the other staff at a meeting they have and signing off on it. I only have ONE more appointment with her (so sad!!!!) and she’ll let me know their response then, but she’s confident that it’ll be fine and told me to bring a copy with me when I go into labor. I’ll be posting a copy on here after my next appointment π We listened to the heart rate and, like usual, it was in the 140s (Stacy commented that my belly is still little – score!). For such an ACTIVE child Blitzen sure does have a slow heart rate (at least compared to Kye)!
We discussed my discharge issues and she went ahead and called me in a prescription for some medicine to treat a bacterial infection even though my test last time came back negative for one. Since there are SO many types of bacteria who knows which one I have so hopefully the meds will help. Also on Saturday my butt started to itch a bunch. I showed Zach and I have a raised, bumpy, rash type thing on the same spot that I had the progesterone shot. I assumed it was a delayed reaction from that but still showed it to her and asked her about it and she said it’s a common reaction to that shot. Hopefully I’ll never need another one but she said if she ever suggests for me to have one in the future, for me to remind her of that reaction. It doesn’t mean I’m allergic (which is good!) but she suggested getting some benedryl cream to help π
We discussed the compression socks and she said I can cut off the feet of them so I can wear them with flip flops if I want to but that they won’t work as well that way because they can’t help my feet not swell. My plan for Vegas is to put them on once I get on the plane then take them back off when I exit π We’ll see how it goes. She also said to use them for Disney – just wear them to sleep or when we’re at the hotel room and they will help! I think I’m going to end up liking them!!!
Since Rachael mentioned blogging while in labor I did ask..and our hospital (shocker!) has Wifi. So the ability to get online is there for me if I decide to use it. More than likely, I won’t be. I will most likely blog before leaving for the hospital and letcha know I’m in labor but probably won’t update anything again until I’m in the postpartum room and rested, or when I get home. I’m hoping my water will break like it did last time and that I can hold out going to the hospital longer so I’ll get there and be like 8 cm. Wouldn’t that be awesome? I know you can’t plan your labor but it would be the ideal situation for me π
After meeting with Stacy I still had time to kill before getting the bloodwork down for the glucose test. I went ahead and got a copy of all my prenatal records to take with me to Vegas, Disney, and Hawaii (just in case!) and I met with insurance to have them print up everything I need for my Aflac policies (show me the money!). The lady who helped me in insurance lives in my neighborhood. I swear everyone lives in our neighborhood!!! The ultrasound tech who helped me a couple weeks ago, the insurance lady, and I met another girl Sunday who works in the back at Southern OB who lives on my street. Crazy! The insurance lady was beyond sweet and said she loves our house and “gets it.” She said once she saw it from the back she fell in love with the beachy feel of it π She also didn’t even realize I was pregnant while we were talking and couldn’t believe I’m close to starting my 3rd trimester. Def a day maker π
Blood work looked good, hemoglobin was 12 which is good they said? I always have to have someone distract me while I give blood and we talked Disney which, duh, I loved! Since Stacy doesn’t leave until the 7th I was hopeful that I’d be able to squeeze two more appointments in with her, but sadly the weeks don’t work out so my next one will be my last until my 6 week postpartum check up. I hate the idea of having to see other people the rest of my visits but plan to make the best of it!
