Zach and I worked hard throughout my pregnancy to prepare Kye for the day he’d welcome his little brother or sister into the world. He understood that we’d be going to the hospital to get the baby and he seemed genuinely excited about it. My main concerns regarding Kye were: what we would do with him when I went into labor, how he would respond to seeing me in the hospital bed, and making sure he wasn’t ignored when the baby was born.
We talked to Jordan, Casey’s fiance and Zach’s bff, about watching Kye for us depending on the timing of delivery. I liked the idea of Kye getting to stay at our house where he’s most comfortable then coming up to the hospital in time to be the first one to meet the baby. We were SO blessed at the timing of when I went into labor! I was able to be fine in front of him then labor at home during his nap and Jordan was there when he woke up from his nap to play with him until it was time to go to the hospital. He LOVES Jordan (who he formally called “George” for some reason) so I knew he’d be excited and Jordan is so responsible and has such a good heart that I knew Kye would be in good hands. Seriously the night after I gave birth Zach and I spend a TON of time talking about Jordan and how amazing he was. He even stayed at our house that night to keep the dogs company. I called him to thank him and literally had to hold back tears, it’s such an amazing blessing to have someone you can completely trust with your child during such a crazy time. I never once worried about Kye!
Jordan was very honored to get to help and took some pretty great videos before Kye got to meet his little sister! Here is a video of Kye and Jordan discussing who they will be seeing at the hospital. Here is a video of Kye’s prediction of what the baby will be. Here is a another video interview of Kye on the way to the hospital. And here is my favorite video…Jordan asked random people at the hospital for their gender guesses of the baby 😉
Once I was done nursing Brittlynn someone went to get Kye…I think it was Zach? It was important to me to give Kye all of our attention when he first came in the room so we asked Elizabeth to hold Brittlynn so Kye wouldn’t walk in to a room where he would feel he’d been replaced in some way. Kye was excited to see me, but he was really more excited to see the baby so we didn’t spend much time of just the three of us since he was so eager to see her! I don’t think he even noticed that I had anything hooked up to me or even had a little tiny concern at all, which is great 🙂
Kye and Mommy
Seeing his sister for the first time
Here is the video Zach took of Kye meeting Brittlynn!
(and yes, Zach had his finger in front of the lens for the first few seconds haha)
I did not shed a single tear when either of my children were born. I don’t know why really, maybe all the adrenaline? With Kye, I cried the first time after he got circumcised. With Brittlynn, I cried for the first time when looking at these pictures of the two of them together. I’m so excited for them to have each other!!!
“It’s okay baby”
He just kept wanting to touch her and was so sweet and gentle
The NEW Parker Family!!!
I LOVE how proud Kye was (and still is!) about being a big brother. You can just see the happiness all over his face and it made my every concern wash completely away. Brittlynn is so lucky to have such a great older brother to look out for her – the guys in her future are in trouble when they have to deal with Zach and Kye 🙂 I’m so proud of Zach and I for preparing Kye the way we did. So many kids his age have jealousy issues when welcoming a sibling and I think we really did a good job preventing that from happening. I’m also so proud of Kye for loving his little baby sister so much even before she was born!

So sweet! You look so much like your mom in these pictures!:)
These pictures are priceless!! You're right – you guys did an AWESOME job at preparing Kye to be a big brother. He is one of the sweetest kids that I know and I have no doubt that he will be an amazing big brother! I can only hope that LL will react in a way that is half as good as Kye!
These are priceless!!
Wow! This blog really made me cry! I love the videos of Kye meeting Brittlynn the best. His little gentle touches to her face and how his eyes sparkle when he looks at her. Both children have been blessed to have you as their Mommy!
Oh, those pictures of Kye meeting the baby are so sweet. I still tear up when I look back at pics and think of my 2 as a newborn and nearly 2 year old (and they are just 1 & 3!). Such a sweet time. http://broxtonbabybabbles.blogspot.com/
