On Saturday, December 17th we had Brittlynn’s newborn photo shoot. She was 11 days old. I would have liked to have waited a little bit longer since newborns change so much so quickly, but I wanted to get the birth announcements and Christmas cards out before actual Christmas 🙂
The day she was born one of my first thoughts was about what I’d order for her to wear for her photos. I LOVE a naked baby look in newborn pictures…I think clothes tend to take away from the baby and it totally dates the photo ya know? Since she is a “she” though I wanted her to wear something to make her look feminine. I hunted Etsy (the BEST site, I LOVE it!) and found both a beautiful headband and an adorable set of bloomer things (that’s the correct term right? The things that cover the diaper? I’m new at this girl stuff!). I ordered them the day after she was born, while still in the hospital! The bloomers arrived super quick, without issue (the seller has TONS of cute ones along with other precious items, you can shop her store here). While they are precious and adorable, the real highlight of her “outfit” was going to be the headband. Of course we had shipping issues!!! The first one got lost in the mail so the seller was sweet enough to make one on the rush and overnight it to me…but of course we live in the middle of no where so it wasn’t possible for the overnight one to reach us in time for the photo shoot. We moved the shoot to 2:00 on Saturday and the headband arrived at 1:00. Our little Christmas miracle! I am OBSESSED with this headband and totally plan on buying more from this seller, they are BEAUTIFUL! You can see her shop here! I told her if the lost one ever showed up that I’d do a giveaway for you guys, but sadly I never did get it 🙁
For the newborn photos we worked with Lindsay from Captured by Colson (you can visit her site here). She was SO wonderful to work with. Very flexible with the headband issues, super speedy with the editing so I could get the cards ordered, mega professional on every level, creative with her ideas, and so positive throughout the whole afternoon. Zach and I had a GREAT time! At first Zach was not too pumped about having to do pictures but when it was over he went on and on about great it went. She had never been to our house before but walked in and immediately had tons of great ideas and took amazing shots in a space she’d never even worked with! Super impressed for sure 🙂
We seriously loved SO many of the images. I ordered some prints for our families to pick through and literally ordered over 200 of them because I simply couldn’t choose. I loved so many that I had to split it up into four blog entries for you guys!!! I’ll number each picture too as I know when I comment on people’s blogs it’s hard to describe which picture I like when they aren’t numbered 🙂
The timing worked out PERFECT because Kye was napping when Lindsay got there so we had over an hour to just play with Brittlynn and not have to worry about Kye wanting the attention or feeling left out. Here’s Brittlynn’s time in the spotlight (these aren’t even ALL of the ones of her by herself…can you believe that?)!!!
1. Daddy getting her model ready
2.
3. Wanted some straight up naked ones 😉
Which, btw, didn’t last long. She pooped ALL over me and her pretty pink blanket so the diaper went on pretty quickly!

11. I’ll discuss the paci in a future post (spoiler alert, she’s not a huge fan…). We opened the front door for good lighting so in between shots I’d cover her with a blanket to keep her warm and she was fussy (she should have been napping…) so the paci was to try to help that situation!

14. I hung this one in our house already 🙂
15. Zach did this similar shot with Kye and we have it framed in our foyer and he wanted to recreate it with Britt so he could have one of each of them!

I loved them SO much!!! It was tough to pick just one for her birth announcement…but I had to go with the obvious choice and pick the smiling one. Who doesn’t love a sweet, innocent, smiling baby??? I know many of you got birth announcements in the mail (I sent out like 240 of them…) but if you didn’t make sure I have your address for next years Christmas card list and future baby birth announcements (email me at deliasgoddess33{at}aol{dot}com!). I had to order the birth announcements from Walmart which didn’t make me too happy. But I didn’t have a choice as they could print them in one hour and I had to get them mailed out before people got our Christmas card. I didn’t want people to get a Christmas card from us with Brittlynn on it and not have been officially told about her birth 😉
Here’s her announcement (click on it to make it bigger!)
If you love looking at pictures then you’ll be happy we have three more posts from this photo shoot to go!!!

LOVE the pics! FYI for next year, you can order from snapfish and they will print at Walgreens. That's how we did our christmas cards this year. I got them the same day!!
The earlier you do the pictures the better, newborns are easy to position and stay asleep the younger they are. Did Brittlynn pee on ya'll? Brady did not pee or poop ONCE in 1.5 hours! The girl who took our photos (I LOVE HER!) uses a bean bag and puts a heating pad under it to keep the babies super warm. Her assistant puts her hands under the blankets to help prop the babies into position. It worked SO well. Just a suggestion for future babies 🙂
Hey Emily!! Brittlynn is so beautiful! Number 23 is my favorite…of this group.
Emily… what SWEET compliments you gave… I am so glad that we had a fantastic experience together with your family! I enjoyed each moment! Can't wait to work with you again!! Thanks again…
Ditto on Rachael's comment! The quicker you get the babies in for the session the better for all involved, so I am glad you didn't wait any longer! She's precious and I totally would have picked the same picture you did for the announcements. She is beautiful!
Great photos. I love the one your mom said should be in a magazine. Maybe the hair bow seller should use it to sell manybhair bows.
love them!! so sweet!! she does look just like YOU to me.
So cute! I love that hair decoration 🙂 I just found your blog and would love it if you could check out mine! http://tenderallure.blogspot.com/
