Strawberry Pickin’

On Saturday, March 24th Zach took Jordan down to Jacksonville for a “guy day.” He did something similar with Brandon (my brother) prior to his wedding. I’m glad Z and Jordan got a day away together, and they had a GREAT time! Now that they are officially brothers I’m sure the fun is just starting 😉

I planned to chill on Saturday. I had both kids all day solo since Zach was gone and I was still pretty exhausted from Hunger Games and Veggie Tales, as was Kye. We chilled that morning and planned to hit up the strawberry patch that afternoon. Of course it rained all morning long. Mom and I had planned to take the kids together (she’s never been and I KNEW it’d be her type of thing) so we were texting back and forth debating on what to do. If it didn’t clear up I still wanted to take the kids out to do something FUN so I figured our back up plan could be one of those bounce house places. Luckily, it stopped raining! Plan A was ON!

Mom came over and fed Britt her 3:00 bottle and we headed out. The strawberry farm is waaaaay down Bemiss near Moody and that’s a bit of a drive for us so we enjoyed Brittlynn’s beautiful lungs on our way 😉 We’ve only been out there once (you can see that post here). I wanted to go last year but we missed it! I didn’t realize strawberries were so ripe so early, I always thought it was more of a summer thing. Thankfully a friend of mine posted pics of her at the farm on Facebook so I knew to go!

The teacher in Mom totally came out on this little adventure!

Kye was really, really excited. I LOVE this age!

An advantage of being a second born, Britt gets to do things that we wouldn’t have ever done with Kye at this age!

Britt and I enjoyed just watching and taking pics 😉

I LOVE quality time with my babies!!!

He wiped his hands on his pants a lot. Thank the Lord for Oxiclean!

Gramma helped show him how to pick the “Big Daddy” strawberries (our basket was filled with many small, green ones up until this point)

YUM!

I love how into it they are!

Found a Big Daddy one!

Had to show Mommy 😉

As we were leaving the guys who worked there said we had the BEST batch they had seen yet…I think it was because we totally didn’t realize they had designated areas you were supposed to pick from and we weren’t in the proper zone. Oops! Luckily they didn’t mind and even were good sports about taking a picture for us. If only Brittlynn’s bow weren’t so crazy it’d be perfect!

If you’re local then I highly recommend hittin’ up the strawberry patch. It’s SUPER cheap (like that big basket was only $7!), the strawberries are super yummy (and lasted a long time!), and it’s FUN! It’s also a perfect thing to do when you have a short period of time. We were there under an hour and made it back in plenty of time for Britt’s 5:00 nap! While I may joke a lot about living in the south and in a small country town…these are the types of things I’m thankful we have the opportunity to experience. Small towns have some advantages for sure 😉
