Father’s Day 2012

Planning what to do for Father’s Day this year was a little tricky since we have a baby who still naps three times a day, but I think we made it a fun day! After I nursed Britt, she got some quality Daddy time while Kye and I ran up to Chick-Fil-A to get breakfast. Not only does Zach LOVE Chick-Fil-A breakfast but he also loves it when I’m the one running an errand so he can just chill at home (typically it’s the other way around as why should I bother getting all ready just to run somewhere really quick?).

Britt enjoyed her breakfast too…excuse my lion’s mane hairstyle haha

I really enjoyed watching a movie and cuddling up in our bed on Mother’s Day. I figured since Zach thought to do that for me that he would also probably enjoy that idea since we often do for others what we wish they would do for us, ya know? Zach got to pick the movie and he picked to watch Wall-E. We love us some Disney/Pixar πŸ˜‰ I had to get ready while we watched so I didn’t get to do as much cuddling!

After the movie the boys ran and picked up Subway for lunch. It wasn’t Zach’s top choice but it was a picnic-friendly meal and that’s what mattered. I know I’ve mentioned before…I LOVE our neighborhood playground. It has some beautiful shady trees just perfect for a family picnic. Kye ordered his first legit sub from Subway (which is such a waste of money since it’s just bread, meat and cheese…I’ll be making his at the house from now on!).

Zach also bought a slushie and let Kye drink some. I was peeved about it because we didn’t discuss it beforehand and Kye hadn’t ever had any slushie before. BUT it was Father’s Day so I tried not to make a big stink about it. It’s just ONE time and Kye does do well with special treats and understanding they aren’t something that happens every day. This is them showing off their blue tongues πŸ˜‰

I didn’t bring solids for Britt so she enjoyed her toys!

Time for the swings!!!!

Britt’s first time swinging at the park

Swinging together πŸ™‚

I see a lot of both Zach and I in Brittlynn and in her developing personality. I do think that she has a lot of my traits…she’s more serious than Kye ever was for sure. Lord knows that I’m the more serious one out of her two parents πŸ˜‰ She is cautious and slow to decide if she enjoys something or not, also like her mama. Which isn’t a bad thing! At least I like that trait about myself πŸ˜‰ She was pretty serious about the swings but, with time, warmed up to the idea and enjoyed it more!

Kye, on the other hand, only wants to swing higher and higher and higher

He’s at this age where whenever he is concentrating on something, he sticks out his tongue subconsciously

If you click and make this bigger I love the kid’s expressions…she’s looking at Kye like “what the heck is Daddy doing?”

Father’s Day Picnic at the Park!

Kye’s tongue also comes out on purpose during pictures now…

Daddy attempting to show Kye how to swing on the “big boy” swings

Content with those fingers πŸ˜‰

Kicking and Pulling…

How old was your child when they switched to the bigger swings?!?! Kye is NOT interested at all…

The playground slides were, shocker, WAY too hot so Kye ran off some energy before we left. The kid would LIVE in the swing if we let him. Which is fine, but it doesn’t really accomplish the goal of getting some physical activity at the park does it??? Luckily, he also loves to run πŸ™‚

Zach couldn’t resist a chance to tackle him down

racing back

We ate an early lunch so we would have time to open up presents before naps. This year I took both kids with me to Hallmark so Kye could pick out the card (it also happened to be the day both kids got locked in the car…remember?). He, of course, picked a Lightning McQueen one. Props to Disney for making Father’s Day cards…I mean DUH every kid will want to buy that for their dad’s and sucker mom’s like me will shell out the crazily over-priced $4 for them!!! Due to the cost of the kid’s card I did not buy one from me. I just wrote in theirs. Kye took signing it very seriously (as he also did with Big Papa’s and Grandpa’s cards, it was precious). This pic is kinda blurry but it’s cute to me how Kye’s reading the card to Daddy.

I love Britt watching Zach

Of course Kye helped open

Since it’s summer and I’m always looking for fun, simple things to do with the kids I hunted around on Pinterest prior to Father’s Day and we made him a present. It turned out SUPER cute! Kye LOVED getting to put paint on Daddy’s shoe (I used an old sneaker just in case it didn’t all wash off…) and he also loved getting to paint his own foot. I tried and tried to get him to pick a different color of paint…but he insisted on PINK. I figured that it IS Kye’s favorite color right now so at least we’ll never forget that haha. It was super tough to get Britt’s foot as she curls her toes so much, but it worked out and Zach liked it. Anything showing off how much of a beast Zach is makes him happy haha!

Can’t you tell Kye is SO proud?!?!

It says: “Thank you for giving us big shoes to fill!”

Ever since Casey’s Wedding (Which I totally forgot! I need to post my favorites from the professional pictures! They were AMAZING!!!) Zach has mentioned how much he LOVED their tuxes and how he wishes he had a nice grey suit. So I hunted and hunted and bought him his first ever custom fit tailored suit! He was pretty pumped! Of course the pants didn’t come hemmed (as they need to be tailored) so he hasn’t worn it yet, but it’ll look awesome on him once he gets it done!!!

Gangsta

He was really surprised!!! I LOVE it!!!!

After naps we went for our annual golf outing! Since I took a MILLION pics (as usual) I’m posting on that next in it’s own post πŸ™‚ I was SUPER impressed with our kids behavior though. It was hot and we were there for over two hours! They both did awesome and then continued to behave beautifully at dinner. AND Britt was skipping her nap. So proud of them πŸ™‚ It’s always a risk to plan things when you have kids…you can’t really control how well the day goes, ya know? Had they been grumpy or fussy or something it could have easily made the whole outing a headache instead of something we’ll always remember happily!

Zach decided he wanted to eat dinner at Longhorns so that’s where we went! It’s, hands down, his favorite place to eat and now I understand why. They have a KILLER Parmesan Crusted Chicken Sandwich. YUM.

Britt’s first time having Gerber snacks…they kept her busy and quiet so we could eat πŸ˜‰

She ate ALL the snacks I brought so she enjoyed gnawing on some bread

Kye ordered a cheeseburger over chicken which was surprising but he loved it!

Haha she’s not letting Daddy steal the show πŸ˜‰

We ate early enough so we could be home for baths and I could nurse Brittlynn. After the hot and sweaty afternoon they REALLY needed the baths!!! It was a super fun family day no doubt.

The next morning, legit Father’s Day, Zach wanted to go to Lakeland Church of Christ for worship services. He wanted to spend Father’s Day with his dad at the church he grew up at! Totally understandable! It was Britt’s first time going there so I was excited to show her off to everyone too πŸ˜‰

Notice the guys matching ties?!?! I get them from My Favorite Pal. They are so awesome!

Kye’s looking so sweetly as his sister

I thought it’d be fun to ask Kye the same questions I asked him on Mother’s Day for Father’s Day…here’s his answers:

Daddy’s Name: Zach Parker

He weighs: 4 months

He is: 421 years old

His favorite thing to do: Play with my cars

He is the most handsome: When he loves me

He likes to eat: Pasta and bread

He always says: Mommy, you’re good

He is funny: When he makes funny faces

I love my Daddy because: I love Kailyn (haha!)

The whole clan was together at Lakeland! We attempted to get a family picture. I’m telling you, it ain’t no easy task!!! For Mother’s Day we bought Mrs. Charlotte a family session with Captured By Colson…I can’t WAIT to see how Lindsay manages to get us all looking good in a picture. It’s gonna take a lot of time, patience and bribery πŸ˜‰

This would have been PERFECT if only Mrs. Charlotte hadn’t been messing with Payton! Darn!

I ADORE generation shots…

4 Generations of Parker Men!

Attempts at a family shot of us…poor Britt had been through enough (no nap the day before and messed up schedule that morning for church…)

And, yes, she’s playing with a paci. I WISH sometimes that she’d suck on the dang thing but at least it makes for a good toy πŸ˜‰

After church we went back to Mrs. Charlotte’s house. It used to be our Sunday routine. We’d all attend Lakeland together then gather at her house for family lunch on Sundays. Then we’d go home and nap πŸ˜‰ Sometimes I miss those lazy Sundays!!! It was nice to all be over there together for Father’s Day. I know Zach enjoyed it and I think the other dads did as well πŸ™‚ To help make things easier on Mrs Charlotte we all offered to bring a dish. She asked me to make dessert. I planned on doing something but Zach wanted to bring his own creation…it’s two layers of brownies with frosting in the middle and Hershey’s kisses on top. Like the wording?!?! He’s so random…

Also while we were there Mrs. Charlotte pulled out Zach’s baby book. I took a picture (and made it extra large so you can see it easier) of his weight and height chart. It was SO neat to come home and compare it to Kye’s. At birth Zach was bigger than Kye…Kye weighed 7 lb 6 oz and was 20 3/4 inches long (and yes, I had to look it up. I don’t know these things off the top of my head haha). I was more interested in where Zach was at two years old since that is the age they typically predict your adult height. Zach was two and a half at his appointment (notice Mrs. Char wrote in the 1/2 next to two) and he was 32 lb and 34 inches. Mrs.Charlotte had always told us that the doctors said Zach would be short…and based on his stats for that 2 1/2 year appointment on the height predictor it says he would be around 5ft 6in at 18 years old! Um that was WRONG. Zach didn’t hit a growth spurt until his teens but we all know he’s mega tall now (close to 6’6″!). Seeing this FOR SURE made Zach and I feel a LOT better about Kye’s future height πŸ˜‰

At three years old Zach was 33.5 lb and 37 3/4 inches. The height predictor says he’d be 5’11” at 18. Kye, at his three year check-up, was exactly the same weight (33.5 lb) and was 37 inches even. So only 3/4 an inch shorter! Of course since Kye has a shorter mom than Zach does (sorry kids! I’m a shrimp!) the height predictor says he’ll only be 5’9″ but Zach is taller than Mr. Rusty so that does help balance it out! Only the future will tell but I love that we have this to look back at to compare them! I know no one cares but us but I thought this was so fun πŸ™‚

We had a really, really wonderful Father’s Day. I enjoyed getting to spend such quality time with Zach and with the other Parker father’s too! Kye sent my dad a wonderful painting that he worked hard on along with a bone he picked out for Dad’s dog, Pearl. I thought it was really sweet of him! He did it all on his own! I love that when he talked to Dad on the phone that he remembered who he is now and talked about fishing πŸ™‚ I am thankful for my own father and also for my father-in-law. How many father-in-laws call just to say hey or check-up on you?!?! I LOVE that Mr Rusty does that with me and it’s always so sweet and thoughtful. Usually if people call it’s because they need something, have a question, or are checking on the kids or something. So it makes me feel very loved that he’ll randomly call to check on ME! I made sure to take the time to tell him that on Father’s Day as well πŸ˜‰ It’s always great to feel appreciated ya know? Get ready for our fun golf outing post next!!!

Ready for a fun look back at how we’ve spent Father’s Day through the years? Here’s 2009, 2010 and 2011!
