9 months old?!?! Like FOR REAL that’s insane!!! Part of me wants to hold onto the baby stage forever but another part of me is so excited to see Brittlynn develop her own personality. I’m so blessed to have such a precious little girl as mine!
Britt turned 9 months old on September 6th…I’m using What to Expect the First Year to compare her milestones and development to other babies her age. She’s wearing monthly stickers from this Etsy shop 🙂
At 9 months old Brittlynn can do everything a baby her age should be able to do including:
- work to get a toy that is out of reach
- look for dropped object
She can also do everything a baby her age will probably be able to do including:
- pull up to standing position from sitting
- creep or crawl
- get into a sitting position from stomach
- object if you try to take a toy away
- stand holding onto someone or somethign
- pick up tiny object with any part of thumb and finger
- say “mama” or “dada” indiscriminately
- play peekaboo
She’s now realizing there is a sticker on her shirt and keeps trying to take it off haha
WILD CHILD!!!
Brittlynn can do everything a 9 month old may be able to do including:
- play patty cake, clap hands, or wave bye-bye
- walk holding onto furniture (cruise)
- understand “no” but not always obey it
Brittlynn can do many of the things a baby her age may even be able to do including:
- “play ball” by rolling a ball back to you
- drink from a cup independently
- pick up tiny objects neatly with tips of thumb and forefinger
- say one word other than “mama” or “dada”
Some of the things a baby her age may even be able to do that Brittlynn isn’t doing yet include:
- stand alone momentarily
- stand alone well
- say “dada” or “mama” discriminately
- respond to a one-step command with gestures, such as “give that to me” said with hand out
This month’s chapter had some GREAT nutrition tips I thought I’d pass along:
- Try to create a preference for whole wheat over white as your child grows they will choose wheat over white when they are raised eating it
- The longer you hold off on introducing really sweet foods, the more opportunity your baby will have to establish tastes for foods that are savory or tart
- When the dr okays whole milk (at the 1 year marker) give it to your baby straight, chocolate milk is loaded with sugar.
- Don’t salt food you prepare for your baby and be particularly careful not to sever up salty snacks, which can give your child an unhealthy taste for foods high in sodium
- Be adventurous when feeding your baby…a familiarity with a wider range of foods will breed a broader diet base and, in the long run, better nutrition
“Stranger Anxiety” Brittlynn FOR SURE suffers from this issue. But it’s not just with strangers…she screams and cries even if it’s ZACH who takes her away from me!!! It’s very typical for this age and we shouldn’t make a big deal about it. It’s best to let her come around on her own and not to push her. I need to suggest to people that instead of trying to pick her up right away they should give her time to adjust to them. It says that some breastfed babies get extremely attached to Mommy and will cry for hours even when with Daddy or another close adult. Ehhhh…this is kinda my child…poor Zach! If I go run errands Brittlynn will sometimes cry literally the entire time. Is it horrible that I kinda like it??? It makes me feel so loved and wanted! Twisted right???? Anyways the book says it’s a phase that she’ll get over and that for the time being it’s probably just best to stick close to her when possible. Luckily we don’t have any trips planned for awhile!
More pictures from this month!
