Every year our church hosts a Trunk or Treat event. Kye’s first Halloween (2009) we stopped by for a bit but it was down in Lake Park area so we had to leave before the festivities really got started. In 2010 he was potty training (like legit only a couple days into it!) so it was a bit nerve-wracking for me! Last year our church held it inside on tables rather than with trunks…I took Kye solo because Zach was working on the storage shed. So THIS was the first year we’d get to FULLY enjoy ourselves. It couldn’t have worked out better because they hosted it at the church. Much closer to our house than the previous locations. They also planned it for 5:00 till 7:00. PERFECT timing for our schedules π
He’d be SO excited to use his trick-or-treat bag!

Everyone decorates their trunks in a theme. Since our kids were being Jessie and Woody I thought it’d be a good idea for us to also dress up in the Toy Story theme. Zach really wanted to be Andy’s Dad (get it…we never see Andy’s dad…) but then what the heck would I dress up as??? I thought we could go as the potato heads but those costumes looked pretty intense to make. Much like the kids costumes, we didn’t want to spend any unneeded money. So we decided to go as Barbie and Ken (don’t get me wrong…I know I’m NOTHING close to Barbie’s body proportions…we just made it work haha). It worked out b/c Zach totally has a Ken-like outfit (and I had a matching scarf that worked as his “ascot”). All we had to buy for BOTH of our costumes was some tube socks for me. $6 costumes total π
Zach was hilarious on the drive over…he kept acting like Ken and not bending. He got some funny looks from drivers we passed by π I love that my husband is such a good sport!
Our attempt at holding hands π
He looks like he’s about to backhand me haha
Our Toy Story family!

G-Mama puts Brittlynn under this SPELL. She was in SUCH a better mood than she had been earlier in the day. I already told Mrs. Charlotte that she has to come to our family pictures to get Britt to smile for the camera π
When I signed us up to host a trunk for the festivities, I assumed Zach would be ALL about it. He usually gets crunk about stuff and I thought he’d make it fun. Wrong. He told me that Halloween just isn’t his thing and that he didn’t see the point in decorating the trunk. We decided just to use all of Kye’s Toy Story toys (three Bulleyes..why not?) and put them in a cardboard box marked “Sunnyside” just like they were in the movie (and yes, I looked up a picture to see what it looked like). Then I played Toy Story themed music while I handed out the candy to the kids and some Spark to the grown-ups (Hey, us adults deserve a treat too and Spark is my FAV! Gives me the energy I need to make it through the day…what mama and daddy don’t need that?!?! If you want me to hook you up with a sample lemmie know!).
At first I was prepared to be embarrassed by the other trunks…but turns out most people are just like us! It was casual, no pressure, and just FUN! We are so blessed to have such an awesome church family π
Brittlynn was SO fussy for our pre-event photo shoot but then she was perfectly happy and content during the whole trunk or treat! She did awesome while we ate dinner and even walked around with the older kids for the trick or treating portion. While I LOVE that she’s a mama’s girl, it was nice to have a little break for a bit π
It makes ME happy to see HER so happy!!!
Jessie and Barbie!
Britt’s new fav game…
She LOVES to lean back and look at the world upside down π
Our sweet friends, the Dame’s, all dressed up in Woody’s Roundup theme too! I LOVE how the Jessie’s match!!!
The event couldn’t have been more fun and we got home in plenty of time for baths and to nurse Brittlynn before bed. I really hope they do it at the church building every year!!! I’m SO thankful our family all came out too. It made it even that much more fun for us π
