Mother’s Day 2013

For Mother’s Day this year we decided to celebrate with Mrs. Charlotte and the fam at our house the day prior to Mother’s Day (May 11th). We hosted a big breakfast and it really worked out awesome! Everyone brought a breakfast dish to share and we all grubbed out. The kids LOVED it and it worked out great being at home so Britt could go down for her nap and everyone else could stay and visit 🙂

Kye loves his G-Mama

Sweet Grandbabies!

(Payton broke her arm in a scooter fall!)

The kids had a BLAST putting on a show for everyone 🙂

I took a video of the kid’s performance and also had Kye recite the books of the Bible for G-Mama! You can see it here!

(Kye does the books of the Bible at about the 1 min marker!)

Jordan was SO sweet helping Britt participate too.

After the breakfast fun we put Britt down for nap and opened gifts and then the party was over! It was nice having it in the morning as everyone could go do their own thing the rest of the day. Casey and I went shopping (and met up with Courtney and Mrs. Char for a bit b/c Courtney WON $100 to spend at New York and Co!!! So awesome!). That afternoon we had Colt and Payton’s Birthday Party (post to come, of course) so it was a busy day!

The day of actual Mother’s Day we didn’t have anything planned. We always celebrate my day on a different day since church always makes Sundays crazy enough 😉 If you’re my personal friend on Facebook then you probably already are aware that it was a tough day for me. A big part of me just wanted to climb back into bed and skip church and just sulk but I refused to miss my sweet boy’s special surprise that morning in Bible Class! I forged on ahead and somehow we even made it out the door early enough to get some pictures 🙂

I love how Kye ASKS for me to take his picture now!

Britt was also just not feeling it that day so pictures were a little rocky but we tried and we just let her hold a friend to help cheer her up a bit 😉

I LOVE my baby girl and am blessed SO MUCH to be her mommy!

And don’t even get me started about this sweet boy! He blesses me more than he can even know and helps remind me that Jesus is ALWAYS with us 🙂

When I went to pick out our coordinating outfits that day I realized the SAME dress Britt wore last year would match great this year too! It’s a size 6 months dress! It was a little big last year when she wore it and this year she wore it as more of a tunic with some leggings under it and a jean jacket over it. I hate you can’t see the actual dress that much in these pictures but isn’t it cool that she can still wear it? I know people always say that dressing a girl is super expensive but in this instance it works out to be cheaper than a boy! ONE dress can be worn for a YEAR?!?! Pretty awesome!!! Also check out how much my children have GROWN in one year! It’s crazy to me how quickly time truly does fly (please ignore how awful I look this year though, puffy crying face isn’t too attractive haha).

My driving force that morning was that I HAD to be at class for Kye. His Bible teacher had found me the week prior and told me he knows ALL the books of the Bible (see the video above!) and that they were going to present him with a special Bible on Mother’s Day for his accomplishment. He had no idea it was going to happen and I was so excited to get to see him receive it!

For knowing them all he got to hold the pointer while everyone reviewed the books!

Someone posted this on our church FB page of me watching him 🙂

Kye truly loves Mrs. Liz so much! She is such a blessing to our family!

Here’s a video of him receiving his new bible!

Haha awesome picture of me where you can tell I’m thinking “Starbursts…grrrreeeeeat….”

SO PROUD!!!!

Something I am always blown away by is Kye’s faith at such a young age. I didn’t come to have a true relationship with the Lord until I was 19 so seeing my four year old have such an understanding for the Word and be so excited to share his love of Christ with others is a huge blessing for ME! I hear from people all the time how Kye always asks to say the prayers at Bible Class. And it’s not just in front of his fellow classmates who are his age, it’s in front of ALL the kids who go to class. All the way up to middle schoolers!!! He said a prayer while I was there that morning and I did take a video of it which you can see here, although I don’t think it’s a true reflection of his prayers as it’s pretty obvious I was making him nervous haha!

Since I was already upstairs with the kids I just decided to skip my bible class and instead go with Kye to his. I enjoyed getting to be with him and see what he does on Sunday mornings!

What could be a better Mother’s Day gift than to see my son shine for the Lord?!?!?

Getting to see Kye earn his new Bible was the highlight of my day for sure! Zach was also above and beyond in his sweetness that day. He teaches the high school age kids for their Sunday morning Bible Study and he talked about me a lot that morning and then had his class randomly come up to me and tell me a compliment about how I am as a mother. It was SO SWEET and unexpected. It was especially hilarious because the first person who came up to me was this teenage boy I don’t know and he just walked up to me and said “You are such a beautiful mother.” And then walked away. Hahah I was like “thanks???” It was SO odd! But then as more of the kids came up to me and said sweet things I realized what was happening 🙂 He also brought me some Zaxby’s for lunch and we just chilled out all day!

I’m SO thankful we had decided to wait until the following weekend to celebrate my Mother’s Day with my little family…it was all God’s timing FOR SURE! I’m beyond blessed to be the mother of Kye and Britt and am so thankful that I chose Zach to be my husband! They remind me daily that I am a good mama and that no matter what I have their love!

He's an amazing young man! Wow, I've taught Sunday school for years, and they never have us fully teach the books of the Bible. That's awesome! I'm so sorry that you had a rough Mother's Day. I'm not a FB unfortunately. I hope whatever caused the tears has gotten better now. I don't do my birthday or holidays well due to family distances, so I hate to see others cry. I'd gladly carry the tear burden for you. Like you my faith journey started a lot later, so watching my kids on their walk is just something I'm thankful for every day.

Haha! "I love you Emily"….walk away….that's hilarious! You have SUCH a sweet family!!! So proud of Kye for learning all those books in order, that's hard to do! Loved your pink dress too, btw. 🙂
