Our last Disney day!!! When planning the trip I booked our Chef Mickey breakfast as early as possible and scheduled it on our last day. I wasn’t sure how Britt would do with character meetings and thought there was a better chance of her doing well after spending a week surrounded in all the Disney magic 🙂 I’m so glad I did it this way as Donald Duck ended up being her FAVORITE so it made that morning really exciting that she’d get to finally meet him in person!
Kicked off the morning with my weekly pregnancy picture…I have to say if you are pregnant and planning a trip to Disney that the 17th week is the BEST week to plan to go!!! I felt GREAT and being pregnant didn’t slow me down one bit. I was quite a bit further along when we went for Kye’s first visit and I def recommend going earlier, but still in the second trimester. The first trimester you’re too tired and by the end of the second trimester you’re just miserable 😉
You can check out my 18 week post here!
It’s neat to me to think about the first time Britt visited Chef Mickey’s. It’s the only Disney related event she’s ever attended prior to this trip!!! I’m so glad we did decide to take her along for the breakfast when she was only around 6 months old. It is CRAZY how much the kids have changed since then (and how much bigger Britt’s bows are now haha). You can look back at that breakfast here!
When we decided to celebrate Kye’s birthday at Disney we decided to make our Chef Mickey day about HIM. From start to finish our last day at Disney was about celebrating Kye’s birthday. Basically it was his “birthday party” day. We would have gone to Chef Mickey for Britt’s first visit so that breakfast didn’t count in the budget for his party but the rest of the activities that day did. It really worked out great and I spent the same amount I would normally spend on his birthday party and didn’t have to actually plan the party!!! We had an AWESOME day and he was SO excited!
I thought it’d be fun to all wear vintage gear for Chef Mickey day. Zach and Kye had matching shirts (although Kye’s is from Disney Store and Zach’s is actually from Target). I found myself and Mrs. Charlotte some vintage style shirts at Old Navy on Clearance and Britt’s top was also Old Navy. All of us wearing gray was NOT planned. I actually didn’t even realize it until that morning haha!
As y’all know, I’m pretty hardcore about what my kids eat. Kye is now 5 and still has never had any chocolate milk. Or soda. Or even sweet tea. The only cereal we have at home is multigrain cheerios. To my kids Fruit Loops are like a HUGE special treat and they call it “colored cereal” 😉 I figure they get ENOUGH junk food as it is from outside sources (school, church, family that spoils them, holidays, etc)…I don’t need to keep that junk in my house! It does make eating out extra special though and especially being able to eat whatever they want at a huge buffet!
Mickey waffle is a MUST
Pretty soon after we sat down they came around and did the celebration song. The cast member asked us if we preferred doing it at the beginning or at the end…she said it was about 40 min between the rotation. We went ahead and did it at the beginning just in case we were ready to leave by the next time they did it. Since Kye already had a birthday song celebration at Cinderella’s Royal Table, he is now a total pro about it 😉 Here’s a video!
I love Britt’s excitement 🙂
Gotta have a bowl of colored cereal 😉
Waiting for character meeting (and a little nervous by the fingers in the mouth!)
Zach took videos while I took pictures. We brought our video camera along every day of the trip but just never really used it. I am AWESOME about picture taking but a lot less awesome about video. I love watching videos of the kids when they are little. Just hearing their sweet voices is so adorable so I want to do better about it! Here’s the video when they met Goofy.
Since we had already met some characters at Epcot, I was no longer concerned about how Britt would do. I KNEW she would love them all, and she did!!! (Can I just add though that we recently went to Chick-Fil-A and that she STILL does NOT like the Cow?!?!?) If you also notice, I always have the kids get out of their seats. Most of the tables around us stayed seated but I just love the kids being able to truly interact and make the most of the few minutes they would have with each character!
Zach’s height tends to get a GOOD bit of attention when we go places. In case you were ever wondering…he’s right at 6’6. So, yeah, he’s a beast. Goofy came right over to him to do a height comparison 😉
While waiting for Minnie to make her rounds this random man came up out of no where with his infant daughter and started basically stalking Minnie. He tried to interrupt her from her table greetings in order to get a photo of her with his daughter. Um. HELLO DUDE. We all know Disney dining character meal protocol: you wait at your table and the characters come to you. We were actually pretty distracted by it all and kept watching him and waiting to see how the situation would be handled. Minnie was obviously annoyed by it and it was pretty clear she was focused on that situation rather than on her meetings with everyone. Which is unfortunate b/c we do love us some Minnie…but we were thankful we had already met her at Epcot and had a GREAT experience then with her! The guy did eventually leave but Minnie held firm the entire time and never stopped what she was doing to even acknowledge him which I thought was the best way to handle it…although a cast member should have stepped in and told him to leave and return to his seat!
Here’s a video of our quick meeting!
It was also hilarious when we were waiting for Donald. He came to the table next to us and Britt was freaking out all excited and the kids were ready to pounce on him as soon as it was their turn and then he turned around and went on break hahaha. Classic! They did great not being disappointed and just waited patiently for him to get back to us. Britt was SUPER PUMPED. There are a few videos from this super important moment 😉 First here is Britt first seeing Donald and letting us know that “he’s okay” (if you remember…he crashed into the wall at PhilarMagic which started this whole obsession on Day 1!). I mean she like freaks out when she says he’s okay and it’s the most hilarious thing ever haha. Then here is her waiting for her chance to meet Donald right before he went on break! And finally, them meeting!
I LOVE Kye’s excitement! I hope he is never “too old” to appreciate meeting the characters, I know I never will be!
Britt is saying “he’s so cute” haha
She loves him!
We should have known about her love for Donald the first time they met and she wanted to give him a kiss back then…
I can see the “Donald kiss” becoming a tradition, huh? 😉
After Donald we had no wait until Pluto and Mickey came up! The kids were amped up and it worked out well for them to be super excited to meet the last two characters in the gang! Here’s a video meeting Pluto!
I love my sweet babies and seeing their faces filled with joy!
Crazy dances waiting for MICKEY!
I bet money that what Kye is telling Mickey in this picture is “it’s my birthday!” That sentence was on repeat for our entire trip! I think he might have really LOVED having a Disney birthday this year!
Britt’s happy happy face 🙂
Here’s a video meeting Mickey!
Kye is SO happy he looks like he might cry!
And, yes, we were still going strong 40 min later for the second celebration song. And this time we were all a lot more crunk about it! Kye didn’t get another cupcake or anything but we enjoyed celebrating the other people in the room and jamming out with our favorite characters as they danced by!
Zach took over camera duty for a bit and snapped this pretty pic of his mama 🙂 She’s such a blessing to us all and it made the trip even more magical having her with us!
Kye asked to go to the buffet line on his own and make me a special plate to eat. This boy loves his mama. I am truly blessed! Be brought me a brownie, a rice crispy treat and a bowl of colored cereal 😉
We took our time eating and enjoying each other! Partially because you spend a GOOD bit of money at these meals and I like to make sure we fully enjoy them…but also because the special surprise we had planned for Kye’s celebration day didn’t open until 10 so we had some time to kill while we waited! It was a phenomenal morning (I don’t think Chef Mickey EVER disappoints!) and we all had a great time!!!
