We typically celebrate Father’s Day (as well as Mother’s Day) the Saturday prior to the actual day, but this year due to schedule conflicts we waited until the Saturday following Father’s Day to celebrate. So I’m splitting it up into two posts and this one is the legit Father’s Day one 🙂
I really enjoy gift giving and it’s fun to come up with creative ideas for the kids to do to show others they care. This year we were pretty excited about our gift idea for Daddy and Big Papa! We bought some golf balls and decorated them 🙂 Hello…PERFECT present for our golf-loving men!
I have NEVER seen Britt so serious about a project. Of course it’d be the one time we had to use permanent markers 😉 She, no joke, sat for over an hour working on her ball decorating. It was so sweet!
I originally started out putting them in a pizza box for her to use in hopes that it would minimize the mess on her hands. But it was just too difficult for her to actually design them so she ended up holding them and getting permanent marker all over herself. But it was worth it!
Kye is typically my craft lover but this time he was done within 15 minutes! Why couldn’t they both be enthralled in the same thing at the same time? 😉
We bought a box of 12 balls and each big kid decorated 6 of them. Then we wrapped up all 12 for Daddy to open on Father’s Day morning. He got to pick which 6 he wanted then we rewrapped the rest for Big Papa 🙂
Completed creations! No losing these balls in the grass for sure 🙂
Zach really loved them! He agreed it was a great gift because it was made by his children but is also practical 🙂 I love me some practical presents!
For Big Daddy we didn’t go the golf ball route. Instead we picked up a canvas on sale and decided to do a little painting project. Kye came up with what he thought the canvas should say and we placed sticker letters where we wanted the words to be. I’ve seen these done before but this was my first attempt at this type of craft and MAN it’s SO SIMPLE and turns out SO cute!!!
We worked to make sure all the sticker letters were covered with paint first. I didn’t want to risk them shifting in the painting fun and wanted to make sure they were well covered with color!
It was a fun, quick project and one of those things where I had to make the kids stop painting. They both love paint and kept wanting to go over it again and again and it was beginning to turn into a brown blob ha!
Once it fully dried I peeled off the sticker letters and we had a finished product!
The World’s Best Daddy on Father’s Day!
I couldn’t resist getting a pic too 🙂
For Father’s Day we usually go visit at Zach’s childhood church. His family all still attend there so he enjoys going back to visit. We then went to Mrs. Charlotte’s for a relaxing lunch and just to chill!
Three generations!
Kye made this card for Big Papa 🙂
He also made this for Zach in Bible Class that morning. So sweet!
Tess gave Carter some loving in cradle roll!
The tough thing about visiting their church is that they don’t allow food in the auditorium and it’s a later start than our church so Tess had to eat lunch during services. I let Zach stay in to hear the lesson and took Tess to the nursery to eat her lunch 🙂
Zach enjoyed a restful day with his family! I posted this on IG that day “When I married Zach I knew he was a great Christian and would make an amazing husband. However, I had no way of even coming close to imagining the incredible father he’d become. I’ve never seen a man more devoted to his children. He is involved in every single aspect of their lives and truly enjoys spending time with each of them. I’m blessed to have him as my husband and couldn’t be a prouder, more grateful wife. I’m so thankful that the only normal my children will every know is a life surrounded by love and a father who will always love, protect and enjoy them. Happy Father’s Day to the man who holds my heart. Seeing the pride on your face when you have our children in your arms makes me love you even more!”
