Britt was SO excited for her birthday! When she turned 3 her real bday fell on the same day as her party and I felt like she kinda got the short end of the stick in that deal. This year it fell on a Sunday which is also a little bit tricky with church and everything. But then I realized Kye will be at school for most of his birthdays…now that they are getting older we just don’t get the FULL day to celebrate with them!
We always kick off birthdays with some singing 🙂 It makes my heart happy that the kids look forward to this. It’s simple but special! Here’s our family waking Britt up on her big day! Sidenote but watching this video reminded me that I had NO VOICE that weekend! I actually ended up calling in to get some antibiotics to help me clear up my crud before Z and I went to Savannah the following weekend. I had no voice at Britt’s party or her actual birthday. haha
I know a LOT of people who have December birthdays and who can’t stand it. I have always wanted to make sure Britt sees the positive aspects of having a birthday around the holidays. I talk it up so much that Kye wishes he had a Dec birthday 😉 A big bonus of having a Dec birthday is that Hermey, our elf on the shelf, comes to visit on her birthday! This year he brought donuts as well as a special gift for her!
She could NOT believe it!
Tess got to have her first powdered donuts!
As a bonus treat for Britt she got to wake up on her birthday with some of her good buddies there too! After her party the day prior the Megow crew stayed over for dinner and playtime and had a slumber party. They don’t have an elf on the shelf so Zach read them the story all about it. Can’t you just see him with seven kids? 😉
The Megows headed out soon after breakfast and our crew got ready for church. My dad called to sing to her and wish her a happy birthday!
I was really excited for Britt to have her birthday at church. We have an AWESOME kids program and Britt loves attention so she was thrilled when everyone sang Happy Birthday to her 🙂 Here’s the video!
In addition to her special birthday song…Britt had something even more exciting happen! She cashed in her Bible Bucks that she’d been saving (along with Kye’s help) to buy a BIKE! She was pumped and the bike is seriously adorable 🙂
Lunch at home before nap and of course she had to rock her new accessories!
Majority of the days of the year Zach and I make the plans. Sure, we do a lot of fun things but majority of the time the kids don’t have a say so in them. This makes their birthdays more fun. For weeks (ok, sometimes months) ahead of time they start planning what kind of birthday cake they want and where they want to go for our family dinner. Britt decided she wanted to pick out donuts at the donut store for her cake and eat dinner at the lobster place (Red Lobster). They love Red Lobster b/c of the ability to see and pet the real lobsters. I don’t think they fully understand that those lobsters are there for the purpose of becoming dinner 😉
It’s a whole new ball game now that Tess likes to color at restaurants!
Tess wasn’t interested in touching 🙂
We didn’t have the best experience at Red Lobster. Oh my goodness it was soooo slow. We have night church at our church (we go to services both Sunday morning and Sunday night) but with it being Britt’s bday the kids and I didn’t attend. However Zach leads a super cute program for kids before church starts (Pew Packers) and he needed to be there. Poor guy didn’t even get to eat a single bite of his food before he had to leave. We were at Red Lobster foreverrrrr waiting on our food then waiting for the check. Basically we waited a ton. My kids are awesomely well behaved in public places which is such a blessing! And cheese rolls didn’t hurt either 🙂
They did semi-make up for it by bringing Britt some free ice cream and singing happy birthday to her! You can see it here! We also made the most of our time together. We made up this game where we had to fast dance, slow dance, silly dance, etc to the different songs they were playing. Britt loved it 🙂
The long wait at Red Lobster meant mega late bedtimes for the kids! It was bedtime by the time we got home! We still had to do presents and cake 🙂 Whenever we have a large, non-wrapped gift for the kids we have them wait down the hallway and surprise them. I found this alligator pool float on clearance at the end of summer and knew it’d be the perfect gift for my alligator lover. I also finally found her a Jasmine after we’d searched high and low all over Disney Springs looking for one!
I LOVE her reactions 🙂
This is her “I can’t even” face 😉
She opened from Grandpa and Grammie first and loved her Frozen music box and bead set!
Kye was so sweet and made her a special card and read it to her 🙂
I love her expressions! They are seriously the best!
In addition to the mini-Jasmine I also found her a larger sized doll!
All of her goodies!
Ready for her birthday donut 🙂
Here’s the video of us singing happy birthday!
Britt is VERY easily to please with gifts. She doesn’t really want much and she’s very appreciative of what she’s given. The ONLY thing she had told me she wanted for her birthday were “big Elsa, big Anna, big Christof, and big Sven” she was very clear she did NOT want Olaf (she doesn’t like Olaf haha). I got a pretty good deal on the large plushes for her and wrapped them up all together as one big present and had her open it last. She was so excited! As an added treat we let her sleep with all four of them that night. We are hardcore with our “pick two friends to sleep with” rule so this was a VERY special treat! The only time the kids ever sleep with more than 2 friends is on vacation 🙂
Britt had a great day from start to finish and really felt special! It’s hard to believe she’s already FOUR!!!
