Zach and I both love taking the time to write our children a letter each year around their birthday. It will make such an awesome gift someday to give them 🙂
Kye,
You
are 7! Holy Cow, as you like to say. I am so so very proud to be your dad. I
love the bond that we have. You are already an amazing child and I continue to
see your growth every day. I am most proud of your Godly example you set to
others. I hope as you grow older you will continue to love the Lord openly, and
talk about him to others.
This past
year has been very rewarding for me as a father. I love watching you grow. You
are starting to show signs of the man you will become one day. You have developed
into quite a helper. You have always been willing to help, but now you know how
to help in the right way. You will hop in and start helping with something,
without being told. That shows me that you are willing, and know what to do. I
think this is a very important trait, and shows who you are.
I am sitting
here smiling thinking about all the fun we had this past year. Camping,
Football, Basketball, building things, Legos, there were so many fun memories.
I am so excited to see what next year brings. I am also sad to see year six go.
One of my favorite memories from this past year, was you crying when Valdosta
State lost. I know when you read this you may be a little embarrassed, but it
brought a smile to my face. You cared so much whether or not they won each game. I also will
cherish the first bruise you gave me. I told your mother that my arm was sore
from you hitting me with your football pads on. I looked down and my forearm
was bruised. Haha, you are getting a little too big I guess. You really started
getting good at golf this year. You are very competitive. You get really upset
when you hit a bad shot. You will learn soon that the bad shots tend to come
more than the good ones. You have gotten
a lot stronger as well. I have to start adding rules to when we wrestle. You
are actually starting to hurt me a little. I was always told I was heavy
handed. I think I passed that trait on to you!
I am so
proud of the way you treat your sisters and your mother. You do have your
moments when you argue with Britt, or get aggravated with your mother. A
majority of the time you treat them with respect and are so loving and caring.
This shows me you will be a great husband someday.
You are also
a leader. I watch you lead others (sometimes a little bossy), and its makes me
swell with pride when you do it in a positive way. As you grow older you are going to have a
choice to make, lead others in a good way, or lead others in a negative way.
People are going to follow your lead. They already do. That is a large weight
on your shoulders. You have to make sure your leading with God first. I know
you will.
Again, I am
so blessed and proud to be your Daddy. I love you so much and can’t wait to see
what the next year brings.
Love,
Daddy
