Family Photos: July 2016

We always love our family photos with Captured by Colson and it seems like every session we have turns out better than the one prior.

I’ll tell you what though…I dunno how we’ll top these beach pics!!!

I was SO excited that it worked out where Lindsay would be in St Augustine the same time we were.

Her going-home day was our arrival day and I appreciate her waiting around for us so we could do our session.

Technically these are Tess’s 2 year pics but really every session is about our whole family anyway so who is keeping track at this point? 😉

I love the beach. Our kids love the beach.

St Augustine is such a special place for our family and it’s my personal favorite family vacation every year.

I was THRILLED to be able to have photos taken there!!!

Our home is a beachy/modern style and I’ve always considered myself a fan of “beachy” vibes so I’m hoping to take more beach pics in the future!

Once our family is complete I’m hoping to do a larger canvas family photo somewhere and a beach backdrop would be perfection!

I am seriously so blown away by how all of these turned out.

It was a tad crazy of a day.

Loading up, driving down, hitting a storm on the way, unpacking, feeding kids dinner, getting ready for the pics.

All day the weather looked BAD but the storms cleared and we had a GORGEOUS sky and amazing lighting and, most importantly, happy kids!

In case you are wondering (I’ve already been asked a few times about my dress in these pics) all the kids clothes and Zach’s shirt were H&M (Which won’t happen again, I’m sticking with Old Navy as they are AMAZING with returns and H&M is awful) and my dress is Gap!

First Up: Solo Pics!

For our adoption book we needed professional images of Zach and I by ourselves and together 🙂

The kids enjoyed running wild waiting on us to take these 😉

I always like to get solos of Zach and I with each child! I think it’s SUPER important for them to have pictures without their siblings in them all the time 🙂

HUGE HUGE thank you to Katie!!!

Her family arrived the same day we did and she was SO sweet to come over to help with the session.

Our kids adore Aunt Katie and she helped get those cute smiles and kept the treats rolling to keep them happy, especially with the pics being at bedtime!

So thankful for her selfless heart to come out and help 🙂

We snuck in a couple together too 😉 Friends for over a DECADE!

And we even got to get a pic with our favorite photographer! We love Lindsay, not just for her amazing skills but for her friendship as well 🙂

Sibling pics!

Our family

I happened to be wearing blue polish AND my “step out in faith” bracelet.

I love that Lindsay noticed it and suggested taking some photos of the bracelet.

She’s been such a big part in our adoption story and I’m thankful for her for capturing this special time in our lives!

I have always appreciated professional photographers.

I’m not the type of person who thinks that anyone with a nice camera can be a “pro.”

It takes knowledge, a vision, and a ton of talent and Lindsay truly is the perfect combination.

She’s always happy and upbeat and positive about the sessions.

She’s always mindful of surroundings and lighting and backdrops and hair that needs fixing 😉

She can take a simple bench and make it look amazing with how she poses us all on it.

I am always impressed but this session especially blew me away.

We were all taking pics somewhere we’d never done them before yet she kept things flowing quickly and smoothly and effortlessly! It was AWESOME.

At the end of the session we hit the beach!

I LOVED her idea just to let the kids have fun and these images are MY FAVS.

It’s also such a HUGE compliment to Lindsay that we had a very large crowd gathered around watching and even another family who were getting professional images taken were envious 😉

This is mine and Zach’s all time favorite picture of Kye ever. It is tough to capture his truest self in photos because he puts on that “plastic” smile whenever he sees a camera.

But this is the TRUE Kye and he’s so handsome and I’m just obsessed with this. Thankful she got a black and white one so we can kinda ignore Britt’s panties haha

Britt was in HEAVEN. I didn’t care one bit that she was drenched 😉 #coolmom

This is another instant favorite for me. When I saw it I couldn’t BELIEVE how similar it is to a picture Javon Longieliere took of Zach and I during our engagement session in St Augustine! Our two favorite photographers collaborated and didn’t even know it…and these pics were taken a decade apart 🙂

How cool is that?

The pics of Britt solo earlier were cute but, like Kye, this is the TRUE Britt! I love love love that this was such a fun opportunity to capture our kids’ truest selves 🙂

Perfect ending to a perfect photo session!

If you are looking to book family photos, senior sessions, weddings, or anything in-between I cannot recommend Lindsay from Captured By Colson enough!
