Britt’s 5th Birthday!

The morning that Britt turned 5 I woke up with a 102 temp. I can’t remember the last time I was sick to that degree. It was the kind of fever where I literally couldn’t function (and shouldn’t have tried) and just had to stay in bed. I felt so, so bad to be so sick on such a special day. I’m so thankful Britt had such a HUGE birthday celebration at Disney…it helped my mommy guilt a little 😉

We still woke Britt up singing 🙂

Hermey and Snowflake (Hermey’s sister!) brought donuts and a present for Britt on her day!

What is crazy ironic is that the book they brought her for her gift was Frozen Fever. If you haven’t seen the Pixar Short then this is a spoiler 😉 But in it it’s Anna’s birthday and Elsa is trying to make everything perfect but then she gets sick! Crazy coincidence right?

Captain Zoom is our favorite birthday tradition!

Britt asked to wear her BBB sash to school for her birthday. I was seriously coolest mom ever that day because she could have asked for just about anything and I would have said yes (I guess I also put her dress on backwards haha)

I drove the kids to school (and shouldn’t have) and knew there was just no way I could go up to Britt’s class for her birthday celebration OR do our plans of taking her to lunch after school. SO thankful for such amazing family! Mrs Charlotte went up to the school for that celebration and Casey met them after for lunch! G-Mama also surprised her with a couple little gifts. She felt VERY special!

I did have her birthday slideshow completed so we had that running all afternoon and Daddy had picked up a birthday banner to make it special too (I asked for a Frozen themed one and Olaf was all they had ha!)

Our usual tradition is to go out to dinner at the restaurant of the birthday child’s choosing as a family. I was still WAY too sick to go anywhere. Zach got home from work and took the kids to pick up dinner and birthday donuts 🙂

Singing and blowing out that massive 5 candle!

Saying some GOOD prayers for that donut 😉

Next it was present time!

I won an auction to benefit someone’s adoption on IG and got a gift certificate to a cute Etsy shop! I redeemed it to get Britt a speciality made alligator shirt with her name on it. She was THRILLED!

Huge thanks to Luv It Sew Much!

Kye is such a sweet brother and helped read all of her cards…he also made her two from him too!

Sweet Aunt Katie even stopped by and dropped off a gift for the birthday girl!

When Kye was born my dad came to visit and brought a HUGE blue bear for him (my dad LOVES polar bears so it was the perfect gift). For years it just kinda sat around, never really played with. But then Kye randomly fell in LOVE with Blue Bear and sleeps with him every night. Britt has been asking for her own pink version and it was a perfect gift idea for Grandpa and Grammie. She was over the MOON excited about it!!!! (I know most parents would consider a massive stuffed animal a nightmare but I think it makes them even more special as a gift…they are from Toys R Us if there are other grandparents reading this who want to spoil some grandchildren ha!)

I love that little laugh when she sees what it is…

So excited!

Kye loves Pink Bear too 🙂

The ONLY present Britt asked for from us for her birthday was Frozen PJs. She never specified which type (long sleeved with pants, short sleeved with shorts, nighty) so I found deals and got her a nighty AND a pair of shorts 🙂

With the Disney birthday we don’t do a party AND we cut back on gifts. Even though they were smaller in number and spending, this was probably one of the most special gifts I’ve given to a child yet.

I have a LOT of my stuff from childhood in our attic. Both of my parents were kinda like “come get your junk” when I got married. All the tubs and boxes are very haphazardly packed and I just haven’t even made a dent in going through any of them (I want to really bad though before the girls are too old to enjoy any of it!). I have TUBS FILLED with toys (especially Barbies). And I had a hunch that my American Girl Dolls were up there somewhere. I took a night and went on a hunt and was SO PUMPED when I found BOTH of my American Girl dolls from childhood. I sent them both off to the American Girl Doll Hospital to be repaired. I was so impressed with how they turned out. My Samantha is the original Samantha so she’s over 20 years old. Her face was completely caved in when I found her from years of storage and heat and they were able to completely repair her to original condition (and did NOT replace her head! She even has her original hair).

Britt has looked at American Girl magazines when they come in the mail (doesn’t it freak you out a bit that these companies just KNOW you have a daughter around that age!?) and Zach and I felt like she’s old enough now to be responsible about it. I am saving the other one for Tess when she turns 5 🙂

One Happy Girl!

We bought one outfit for her and got a gymnastics one 🙂

Kye was SO sweet and sent Britt on a scavenger hunt around the house to find one last special present (the one he had picked out for her at Hollywood Studios)

Videos: 1, 2 and 3 🙂

She loved her necklace!

I was MUCH better the next day and able to function haha! Britt went to school decked out in bday gear 🙂

Originally Britt had chosen to go to Red Lobster for her real birthday night celebration but with me being sick there just was no way that could happen. We had planned to go out with the family a couple nights later and I just asked everyone if they minded having it at Red Lobster. It really worked out great and I’m not sure if all Red Lobster’s do this but ours ALWAYS lets our kids see and touch the lobsters in the tank (it’s the reason our kids always ask to go there for birthdays!)

here’s some lobster videos: 1 and 2

Sometimes it’s hard as a mama to watch your babies grow up right in front of your eyes. Britt asked to sit beside G-Mama and Payton that night. They were down on the other end of the table from where we were so I didn’t really get to spend a lot of time with the birthday girl during her birthday celebration! Of course my mommy heart was a bit sad about that but at the same time how awesome is it that she has such great bonds with her grandmother and cousin? We are truly beyond blessed and it was her special day so I was happy to see her spending it with those she loves so much! She had a BLAST!

Our big girl!

Singing and blowing out candles (She requested a pink cake with chocolate frosting and it turned out pretty tasty! I had some little sugar candy decorations too to help make it cuter)

Present time!

First set of Legos (side note but it’s currently almost Feb and they are still in the box. I think her ASKING for Legos was more of a Kye influence than a true WANT)

All the cousins gathered around to help her open and read her cards!

Aunt Casey appreciates mine and Britt’s intense belief in unicorns 😉

Full laps – Full hearts!

(I LOVE when Mr Rusty is in a picture mood and ASKS us to take pics)!

5. A precious handful of fun, laughter and infectious joy. This girl is constantly surprising us in all the best ways and I know this year will be the best yet! So proud to be her mama and thankful to be blessed with her as my daughter 💗 Happy Birthday Britt!
