25 Years Old = Wrinkles :(

When editing the pictures from the wedding I noticed something that made me sad. Yup, I have my first wrinkles 🙁 They are at the corners of my eyes when I smile. Is that called crow’s feet?!? Whatever they are called, they suck big time!!! It’s just proof that I’m getting older and I don’t like it!!! I’m now on a mission to prevent future wrinkles and make my current ones less noticeable!

On top of wanting to prevent wrinkles I also want to prevent sun damage. My dad has had skin cancer removed multiple times and I don’t want that to be me! I also have noticed that I get spots of darker pigmentation. I went to a dermatologist recently about this (after Kye was born it seriously looked like a I had a MUSTACHE b/c the skin was so dark right there!) and she told me that I have dark skin that gets darker when it’s hot. I’ve always loved my skin color and love that I tan SUPER easy but she said the downside of that is these dark spots will keep coming up and just get worse if I don’t do something about it!

The dermotologist prescribed a cream to me that I put on each night and it’s REALLY working! Already the sun spots I had are disappearing and I haven’t noticed any new ones forming. Yay!

Here is my current skin care routine, I’d LOVE any help that you guys may have in this area! My goal is to keep my skin young looking as long as I can and I know the time for prevention and protection is NOW! There are just TOO many products out there and it stresses me out even trying to understand them all so maybe some of you have some products you love! Or maybe some of the stuff I use will help someone else out 🙂

In the morning:

At night:

I think for a 25 year old new mom I do pretty well with taking care of my skin but I’m sure I could do better! Thankfully Zach is pretty supportive of all the money it takes to keep a woman young 🙂 I’m trying to get him to take better care of his skin too but of course he’s not as concerned. Isn’t it unfair how men look GREAT as they age and we just go down hill?!?! Blah!

UPDATE: My mom is here visiting and she informed me that since the wrinkles only are there when I smile that they are laugh lines and not legit wrinkles…yet! So that means someday they will be there whether I smile or not?!?! Yikes!!!!

Emily, I had the same problem with dark spots on my face and I was especially worried about them before the wedding. I tried a product from Clinique called "Even Better Skin Tone Corrector." They have a whole line of these "Even Better" products but this one is a cream that you put on twice a day. All you need is one tiny pump for your whole face twice a day. I put it on under my moisturizer and it REALLY WORKED. It was $50 but it lasted me 3 months. Perfect just before the wedding. I really really recommend it. I thought it was amazing. And now that its gone the spots are not coming back. Hope this helps!Love, Your Sis.

so glad you posted this! I have very fine lines around my eyes too and I was just talking about them the other day! I am not in the sun very much now but when I am, I always wear a higher SPF on my face. I have not gone the extra mile to buy anti-aging cream but I may buy what you are using! Keep us posted on it! 🙂

Well,I am 26 and don't have them..yet! However, I wear SPF 50 on my face every day of the year and don't tan (I am pretty fair as you know). I just make sure to gently dab any kind of skin firming lotion around my eyes at night, and in teh morning pre-makeup, when I actually remember. Another thing, ALWAYS wear sunglasses! If you are squinting less, then there is less cause for wrinkles:) Now, I found 2 white hairs last night..white all teh way from the root to the tip! Eeek! Ashley T.

I'm fair skinned and try not to tan my skin. I just have to accept being white as a ghost all year to prevent wrinkles. If I go to the beach or something I use the highest SPF and wear a hat and sunglasses. So you're on the right track there! It kills me to see all these teenage girls just frying their skin! AHHH! I want to shake them and tell them they are going to regret that!As far as a skin care routine I use proactiv solution. I don't have acne but I love this stuff. And I use Mary Kay night solution on my face to prevent wrinkles and fine lines.I read too many magazines with articles about the harmful effects of tanning…so I guess it's scared me from ever tanning again. lol.By the way I found your blog through Rachael Copponex's-Sara

Girl!! My skin is a wreck…at the mighty old age of 24! Adult acne, ridiculous sun spots (I totally have the mustache looking thing in the summers), wrinkles, uneven skin tone, the whole bit. I take great care of my skin with little reward. My makeup has SPF & I wear wide brimmed hats an sunglasses as much as possible- mostly because the weird upper lip sunspot is so weird & embarassing. I got some super expensive cream that helped, but now it's coming back b/c I'm in the sun again & haven't been using the cream. My dermatologist told me it's probably from my birth control (and the only reason I take that is to control the adult acne- lose/lose!) & it'll only get worse when I'm pregnant. Ohhhh, the woes of being a woman. Praise the Lord for makeup! Maybe we'll reap the benefits from starting early!
