28 Weeks Pregnant and Gluclose Test

THIRD TRIMESTER PEOPLE!!!

Baby Growth: Leo is weighing 2 and 1/4 pounds (about as much as a large eggplant or chinese cabbage). He or she is measuring 14.8 inches from head to foot! The kids and I have been having fun this week pointing out things in our home that the baby is already bigger than πŸ™‚ I held up a pea at dinner and showed them how SMALL we all start out being. It’s pretty awesome!!!

My Symptoms: Poop life is 100% back to NORMAL! Praise the LORD!!! I have decided, moving forward, to stay on the prenatals I’m on right now. I had originally planned to switch back to my Advocare ones but I’m just gonna wait it out with these. I think they are the reason stuff is flowing regularly and I don’t want to risk messing my system up!

I had another OBGYN visit this week but didn’t do a separate post on it simply because I just went last week! This week was the big glucose test. I do NOT understand why people get so bent out of shape and dramatic about it?!?! The drink wasn’t all that bad. I chugged it fast and was done with it. It did make me feel a bit queazy during the wait for the labs and it did cause me to have some nasty after taste issues for a good bit of the day…but actually drinking it wasn’t a big deal at all. I had brought a ton of stuff to do during the hour I had to wait but, instead, I saw like a million people I knew so I just played catch up with them πŸ™‚ I did also go back and see Stacy while I was waiting and got to hear the baby…heartbeat was in the 140s and 150s. The big thing about the quick visit with her was the news that her c-section will now be ON MY DUE DATE. Leo better come early or Stacy will, yet again, not be able to deliver me!

I always hate lab work and ask to have someone distract me πŸ™‚ Once I was done I was really more thirsty than anything so I drove through Zaxby’s and got a HUGE cup of water along with a special treat to reward myself πŸ˜‰

I am still having a pulsing sound in my right ear. It’s pretty constant so I asked Stacy about it and she said that it’s common for blood vessels to swell and such while pregnant and that it doesn’t sound worrisome to her, at least not yet. It doesn’t annoy me unless I’m sitting quietly (so basically only when going to the bathroom haha) so I’m not going to worry about it!

I had a bit of chaffing between my legs that was driving me nuts last week and I told Zach about it and he said that it’s because my thighs have gotten bigger hahaha. Husband fail πŸ˜‰ I really hadn’t noticed my thighs at all. I mean when I look down all I see is BELLY. Maybe he’s right though…or maybe (as I like to think anyway…) my maternity pants are just too big and sagging and rubbing me the wrong way. I used a good bit of baby powder and it’s all cleared up now. So maybe my thighs got smaller πŸ˜‰

I have noticed my fingers are started to swell. During church Sunday my ring really bothered me. I need to up that water!!!

Speaking of swelling…my boobs are massive. And gross. And annoying. And FULL. And uncomfortable. If you were to be a fly on the wall at my house you’d most likely see me with no shirt on walking around in just a sports bra. I cannot stand to wear a regular bra for very long and I often even don’t wear a bra at all. Zach walked in one afternoon and I was sitting at the computer completely topless holding my boobs up with my arm hahaha. Nice mental picture huh? Super sexy πŸ˜‰

I had one super bad migraine this week and it was Monday. I did a LOT of cleaning that day and think the fumes from it all bothered me?

My back pain is back hard-to-the-core. Guess the relaxation in Ireland didn’t last too long!!! It hurts in the lower area, especially on the left side and it feels like it’s “stuck” and like I have to work to get it to move. Super frustrating and uncomfortable!

Overall I just feel like I’m in my third trimester. Which I guess is fitting since I am officially here huh? Even though I have aches and pains and annoyances…I am on FIRE about getting things accomplished. I think I’m the type of person that doesn’t really get hardcore into my pregnancy until I’m in the third trimester. It’s like CRUNCH TIME so I get a fire lit under my butt and start rolling.

I went through this week and started working on meals for us once Leo arrives. I haven’t ever done this before but am SUPER excited about it. When I cook a meal for our family in the crock pot, I’m basically going to double it and make an extra meal to freeze. I did one meal this week and it was so, so easy. Also the bags for the meals are going to be so much easier to store than a bunch of big casseroles like I’ve made for past pregnancies. And crock pot meals are delicious! All we will have to do is pick a meal, stick it in the fridge overnight to thaw, and then throw it in the crock put the next morning and let it cook all day. Homecooked, yummy dinner!

I am also feeling very motivated to get this house in order. Now that Britt is in her big girl bed we are transitioning her room from her nursery to a toddler/preschooler room. She’ll stay in this room until we get pregnant with baby #4 someday and then she will move up stairs to a new room. To be honest, I didn’t really LOVE her nursery. I had to make a lot of quick decisions because she was born when we decorated it. So I have enjoyed the process of doing some re-decorating in her space. I think these turned out really cute! I used her mobile from her nursery and put them in shadow boxes I already had from Kye’s nursery πŸ™‚

Weight: Whew. Only gained 1 lb this week! I “should” gain about a pound a week for the rest of pregnancy. Since I’m at +15 right now that will put me at 27 lbs which isn’t too bad at all. Not as great as last pregnancy, but still not bad!

This week Kye said “Britt you are so skinny. You are going to be a skinny mommy. But Mommy, you are fat” Um. Thanks kid πŸ˜‰

Gender: When Stacy came in yesterday she referred to Leo as a “she” and said it just came naturally to say that so her official guess is girl (no, my chart does NOT say the sex and Stacy does NOT know it!). Casey and Mrs. Charlotte both think girl too. Our whole little family says BOY.

Maternity Clothes: Still wearing a mix of things, trying to wear more maternity stuff since I really don’t have all that long to be wearing it!!!

Movement: Child moves HARD. I remember with Britt it was constant, crazy movement. Leo is not as constant and crazy but it will be random and intense and then stop again. Kye was sitting in my lap at church on Sunday and Leo was kicking him pretty good haha it was neat that he could feel it!

Sleep: I’ve started struggling in the sleep department πŸ™ I was hoping I would be able to continue to sleep well and comfortably the entire pregnancy but this week has started being tough. Hopefully it’ll improve (wishful thinking huh?)

Cravings: We had Taco Bell Monday night and it was AMAZING. Zach also makes these really yummy chicken wrap type things and I am loving those. So I guess I’m liking chicken more?

What I Miss: Pain free back πŸ™‚ My face not being so puffy! Zach swears he doesn’t see it (but maybe he’s just trying to recover from the thigh comment…) but it is SO puffy and nothing is helping it go down!

Best Moment of the Week: I am really, really proud of Britt. She’s been in the big girl bed for over a week now and still has yet to get out at all. We had a girl morning last Saturday and ran errands and she didn’t ride in a stroller or shopping cart. She wanted to walk so I let her and she was an ANGEL. Seriously. She did so, so amazing and we truly had a FUN time together. I don’t want to jinx it but I feel like maybe the “trying twos” are in our past with her. She’s come SO FAR.

Saturday night Casey and I attended a surprise party for Robyn’s 30th! I couldn’t believe that she was actually so surprised, but she was! It was precious to see her reaction!!! And we had a great time visiting with people and eating awesome food. I’m looking forward to celebrating Robyn’s special day with some us time this week too πŸ™‚

We also went swimming for the first time this year and officially opened up our pool! Y’all. It was STILL COLD!!! I didn’t last long and neither did the kids but with how HOT it’s been this week I’m thinking we will have better luck this weekend πŸ™‚

I really, really missed my babies in Ireland and I think part of this pregnancy stuff is that I feel the desire to have a lot of affection and have a lot of quality time with the people I love most. I really WANT to do more family fun events and really focus these last 12 weeks on our core four! We did get to go to The Mix this week for their Frozen night and it was a great time! I’m hoping a lot more of these type occasions will be happening over the summer!

Even though I am uncomfortable, feel ugly, and just kinda am “miserable” on a lot of levels…I am trying to soak up and savor these days of pregnancy. When I’m able to stop and rest I really do love being pregnant. I love rubbing my belly and feeling those kicks. I will miss these days when they are behind me!

Questions/Concerns:

  • So Stacy’s c-section is now scheduled ON MY DUE DATE. So that means Leo MUST come early or else someone else (hopefully Teresa) will have to deliver me. I’m nervous about that for sure!!!
  • I have found some shoes for the pool/beach but would LOVE some input and advice on some sandals and such with good cushion support in the toe area! Any favorites?
  • I am starting to make lists of people who can either keep my kids when Casey goes into labor or (and) could keep my kids when I go into labor. I’m less worried about someone keeping them when I go into labor b/c it’ll be a shorter period of time since I stay home so long when laboring and because they will be allowed to come in the room with me once I deliver. It’s Casey’s delivery I’m more concerned with b/c Zach and I both want to be there for it ALL and I need a legit sitter to stay with my kids that whole time. If you recommend anyone, please let me know!
  • Speaking of sitters…we tried another one this week and she was AMAZING and I loved her! But she’s moving. Boo. If you are local and you know of some sitters you trust, PLEASE let me know. We are needing to make a list of people we trust for sitters for times when they are needed as we are to the point where we simply can’t always rely on family!
  • I want to ask Stacy about chiropractor while pregnant…maybe it’d help my back?

Goals for the Week:

  • Now that I’m third trimester we HAVE TO get rolling on Bradley. I got on the elliptical this week and, legit, lasted 5 min haha. But the Bradley stuff is a MUST. EVERY NIGHT.
  • Get going on nursery! Hello, we haven’t even started that yet either!
  • Get our summer schedule in order, including daily chores for kids
  • Make any returns from showers and go ahead and get the stuff we have left that we need!

Belly Pictures: How come when I look in the mirror I look SO PREGNANT yet in the pictures I don’t? I mean, I’m def not complaining about it or anything but, trust me, in person I am large and in charge πŸ˜‰

Past Pregnancies: You can read my 28th week post here from my 2nd pregnancy! Ugh. Can I have that pregnancy back?!?! I mean I’m glad I recognized how wonderful and easy that pregnancy was!!! This one is FOR SURE more like mine with Kye (which is so why I am SO POSITIVE it’s a boy!). My symptoms are all more like they were with him and I def don’t look or feel the way I did while pregnant with her! You can check out that 28 week belly from my first pregnancy here…I am def carrying the same way I did then, but I’m happy to report that my stomach is tighter this time. Def not as “flabby” looking πŸ™‚

No leaking chest at all yet this time around but at this point I had it with both babies before. Zero percent nervous about nursing though πŸ™‚ It’s a blessing to not be worried about things like that anymore! I even had someone ask if I was nervous about scheduling three kids and the answer is NO! I’m really not nervous about any of it. I know what to expect and feel prepared for LIFE with THREE. I know it’ll be nuts and I’m mentally preparing myself for that change πŸ˜‰

I recommend chiropractics to all my pregnant mamas (I'm a certified birth doula and HypnoBirthing Childbirth Educator). Looking for someone certified in the Webster Technique is especially helpful because they have specific training in working with pregnant mamas. Besides leaving mamas more comfortable through their pregnancy, it also helps ensure baby is in a good position (avoiding breech and posterior presentations) and when your body is well aligned, your labor tends to be shorter and more comfortable. You can read more and find a Webster-certified DC here http://icpa4kids.com/about/webster_technique.htm

Have you tried Skecher's Go Walk shoes? They are more like tennis shoes; however, in my opinion, they are much cuter and go with much more. I have issues with my feet as well and they are so comfortable. I just recently purchased these: http://www.finishline.com/store/catalog/product.jsp?productId=prod709563&brand_name=SKECHERS&mkwid=st49OTA1D&CMP=PPC-PLA-NewTopNav-Go+Walk+Womens+Slip+On+ShoesThey have lot of options. For instance, these seem like they would be perfect for the beach/pool: http://www.zappos.com/skechers-performance-go-walk-2-breezy-hot-pinkI am in love with these shoes. Seriously, they are worth every penny. You don't need to wear socks with them and they are very "breathable". Perfect for the summer. Hopefully this helps.

Would you share the freezer/crock pot recipes you made? That was a great idea to make those ahead of time!
