With the success of the Crazy Hat Party Casey and I were pretty excited. We realized that the fam will participate in themed events! They may need a little pushing but they will do it and they will love it haha We talked about all the future parties we could have: costume Halloween parties, tacky sweater Christmas ones, dressy New Year’s Eve events. The possibilities are endless 😉
We wanted to do a Halloween party but some details of it just weren’t working out. Adult only vs kids. Family only vs friends too. Etc etc. I LOVE me some parties, but I don’t do well with last minute hosting duties! As it got closer to Halloween I just kinda nixed the idea but Casey and Jordan suggested having it at their house and just having it as a small family-only event, with the kids. Sounded great to me!
I hunted Pinterest for cute Halloween themed party dishes I could bring that didn’t take much effort or money (yall know me and my rule: has to be CHEAP, has to be QUICK, and has to be EASY!). I thought both of these turned out super cute and I can see them be Halloween staples for our family!
1) Creeeeepy finger cheese: I just took string cheese cut it in half, dabbed on a little cream cheese at the end, stuck an almond slice on top of the cream cheese. Then I took a knife and made little slits for the knuckles! Kids LOVED these 🙂
2) Mummy Hot Dogs: These were a little more time consuming and handling the uncooked hot dogs has totallllllly made me feel squeamish about hot dogs. Ick. However they were SO cute and totally worth it! I preheated the oven to 350 degrees then took a package of crescent roll dough and used one triangle of dough per hot dog. I cut the triangle dough in strips and wrapped it around and around the hot dog. I then baked the hot dogs according to the crescent roll instructions. Once they were done I used a toothpick and some mustard to make the eyes. I also reheated the leftovers for another event that weekend and they turned out great too!
Everyone brought a dish to share and we made it a simple finger foods dinner. The party was at 5 and it went SO great!!!!! I was mega impressed that everyone (other than Little Mama and Big Daddy) came AND that they dressed up. Seriously, being themed makes everything SO FUN!
Aunt Myrle made this super cute fruit turkey!
Casey and Jordan decorated their house SO cute!
They even had fun Halloween crafts for the kids!
Costumes:
Thing 1 and Thing 2
Old Lady hahaha
Brad
The Beast
I LOVED Mema’s and Aunt Myrle’s witches!!!
Beauty and her Beast 😉
Once everyone had their fill of food we headed out back to do the costume contest. Duh, with the Parker Family there HAS to be some level of competition to make it fun 😉 We all stood up on the porch family by family and “sold” our costumes to the crowd who then ranked them from 1-10.
Zach really was selling it hahaha
Making out totally scores more points 😉
Classy Witches!
Jolee was HILARIOUS!
The Fleming Family
Up last were the Bacon’s. I had a pretty decent hunch that they were gonna REALLY “sell” us on their costume choice so I totally video taped it….you can watch it here! My favorite part of the video is how EXCITED Zach was and how it was so obvious he also had a hunch since he started SCREAMING before they even announced it hahaha
Bacon “Thing 3” Due in JUNE!!!
Baby Bacon!!!
Obviously we are all THRILLED about the news!!! Zach, Jordan, Casey and I are all so close now that Zach and I just KNEW it without even being told…we had been talking about it for weeks and when we saw their costumes we 100% were sure that an announcement was coming that night. It’s SO SO SO SO SO exciting!!!! We were so pumped that we ended up staying at their house well past bedtime (glad our house is only 2 min away!). We bathed the kids and let them watch a movie while we visited and got filled in on all the details 🙂 (obviously NOT the details on HOW the baby was made…we know how that works haha). Jordan and Casey are going to be AMAZING parents and we are simply overjoyed for them and excited to have a new niece or nephew too! Honestly I don’t think I have EVER been so excited about someone else’s baby news. I went home that night and started shopping haha!
A successful party AND amazing news! It couldn’t have been a better night!!!!
