Britt 1st Day of 4 Year Old Preschool

This year was a big shift for Britt with school! The last two years she has gone just 3 days a week but this year she moved up to the 4 year old class and goes every day. She’s still in a half-day program but it’s a change from being home two mornings a week with me! Never again in her school career will she have a 4 day weekend haha!

Kye’s kindergarten class was the last one his school has had, so this will most likely be Britt’s last year in preschool. Even if they do decide to offer a kindergarten class next year, I’m not sure if we’d sign up. We had a fabulous experience for Kye but Britt is EAGER to be at “big kid school” with her brother and ride the bus home with him in the afternoons. I think she’ll do FINE in all day school next year, so we’ll see!

Britt has been more excited for back-to-school than Kye. She loves the social side of things and was looking forward to the big kid status of being in the 4 year old class!

Ready for Open House!

When Kye was in the 4 year old class his teacher was A-MAZING and ended up being Britt’s teacher in the 3 year old class. I seriously adore EVERYONE on staff at their school so I wasn’t worried about either teacher for her grade level. Both Colt and Payton had her teacher when they were in the 4 year old class and Courtney loved her so I feel great about it! I know she’s a little more strict than teacher’s Britt has had in the past, but I appreciate that and warned Britt that this may be her year for moving her first clip. It’s CRAZY to me that KYE had pulled more clips at this age than Britt has (Britt has gone through two school years without a SINGLE clip being pulled). I sometimes joke with her that I wish I could be her teacher 😉 She requires the most discipline at home but apparently doesn’t need any at school!

I love that Zach puts attending our kids Open Houses down as a priority. He ALWAYS does his best to be there. He meets each teacher and gives them his business card and tells them to call him if there is ever any problem 😉 I love the way he talks to them though about it because he always leads with “I don’t expect there to be an issues with (insert child name here) but if there is call me” 🙂

4 year old pre-K is the real deal. They have sight words and lots of writing practice and by the end of the year she’ll even be reading. She is THRILLED about all of these things and it surprises me just how much she enjoys learning. Being a more active child I thought she might struggle a bit with sitting still and paying attention but it’s a non-issue for her!

My girls at Open House!

Britt wanted to do curlers for her first day!

Britt and I found the girl’s dresses at Gymboree when we went outlet shopping in St Augustine. I ADORE Britt’s because it has little pencils all over it. Perfect first day of school outfit 🙂

I think you can tell which girl was pumped and which one wasn’t haha!

My big girl growing up and making her mama SO PROUD!

Such a little lady (we also got her shoes on our trip!)

Britt enjoyed leading the way for us all and taking charge of Tess and letting her know where things were in the building!

I always try to make sure to invite Mrs. Charlotte to big events. Sometimes I forget simply because I grew up without any extended family living nearby so I don’t think about it! I know she loves to be included though and it’s so special for our kids to have her there so I do my best to remember to include her, and she knows by now that she’s ALWAYS welcome even if I forget to extend the invite 😉

Like her brother, she was eager to get going and ready for us to BE GONE. It was a proud mom moment because many of the others in her class wanted their parents to stay as long as possible. I think it’s a reflection on her having been in school for awhile already! She’s comfortable there and used to the routine of everything.

I always said when I grew up I wanted to be a stay at home mom and have cookies waiting for my kids after school. I don’t do after school snacks on a regular basis but the first day calls for cookies 🙂

Britt has REALLY shined bright in her class this year so far! She LOVES to practice her sight words and has continued her trend of excellent behavior. She’s still got that streak going as she hasn’t pulled a clip yet! She continues to make lots of friends and has her first “boyfriend” this year. Just like we tell Kye, we focus with Britt on the character traits of a potential spouse when it comes to her “crushes.” We always put the emphasis on if he makes good choices and if he loves Jesus! As long as she chooses boys based on those two factors, we support the little “boyfriends” along the way to her husband! I’ve loved seeing Britt grow and blossom in her love of learning. She takes school very seriously and I’m so proud of her! I know she’ll do great things!!!
