I have never gotten a GOOD nights sleep on Christmas Eve. Usually we have a kid (or two!) sharing the room with us or a kid who is sick or I’m up nursing a newborn. Etc etc. But this year? I slept the best I’ve ever slept which really helped make Christmas morning even more exciting…I didn’t feel all groggy and icky!
Everyone lined up and ready to go!
Britt STILL had fever but that Tylenol really helped knock it down so she felt fine!
videos:
Tess finally opening her Santa
This year from Santa Kye really wanted a big dinosaur (that Colt got last year), X-Wing Fighter Legos and a Star Wars video game
That smile!
All Britt wanted from Santa were surprises so she ended up with a Disney Castle doll set, Frozen Legos, and her very own makeup vanity (which I envy b/c I don’t even have one!)
Tess didn’t like all the craziness haha
Once she understood what was happening she got into it…it just took us ignoring her to let her work out those emotions 😉
She got a baby doll crib (with Mickey Mouse), a trampoline and a bouncy pony
Tess was ALL about Carter all morning!
Last year our little family devised a GREAT system. We sit in a circle and each kid picks one gift and then they all open that gift at the same time. That way Zach and I can see them all and they can see each other and it doesn’t take as long as it would if we had each child take turns.
Growing up my brother had a Christmas where he was obsessed with Power Rangers. Every gift he got was somehow Power Rangers related. That’s how it was for Kye this year with Star Wars! It’s like Star Wars threw up all over Mrs Charlotte’s living room haha!
Tess didn’t want to sit in the circle with our little family. She decided instead that she wanted to be a Bacon for the morning and sat with Carter and Casey to open most of her gifts!
Our little circle!
We try to avoid opening things from the packages since there are SO many people and SO many gifts and so much trash etc! But Tess really wanted to wear all the things she could 😉
Trying to ride a stuffed pony haha
G-Mama knew what this future baker would like!
We did adult gifts the night prior but saved the gifts from each family to each other so the kids could be part of the experience. I LOVE how awesome the decals turned out that we got for each of the guys (and put on Yetis). aNn Monograms is seriously AMAZING yall! I just told her roughly what I was wanting and then BAM! They surpassed all expectations!
Tradition! Christmas cookies for breakfast!
Courtney was SO thoughtful and had personalized journals made for Casey and I with phrases that are meaningful to us (Casey’s said “Thy Will Be Done” and mine said “Step Out in Faith”) Isn’t that SUPER sweet?!?!
Had to include this one of Brad 😉
Aftermath!
So our onesies ended up being QUITE the hit. Apparently I need to buy myself multiple onesies and just wear them as regular clothing attire because I think I got more comments on my attractiveness wearing that onesie than I did the rest of the year combined haha I guess I will be packing it on our 10 year anniversary trip to Mexico bahahaha
We put on a movie while the adults cleaned up, packed up, loaded up and got ready fro church!
I love Tessie’s smile…she was excited about Finding Dory and made sure EVERYONE knew it was HER movie 😉
Here’s all the rest of the videos from the morning:
Tess and Carter playing guitars
We went straight from their house to church and had a beautiful service then got back home and EVERYONE slept. Whew I love me a Christmas nap! After our naps we unpacked all the presents and started opening up the packages. We also talked to Grandpa and Grammie and just had a lazy afternoon. It was funny because Tess was super obsessed with all of Britt’s toys and barely played with any of her own!
This little makeup set was a BIG WIN with her though! It’s by Little Cosmetics and isn’t real makeup. It just looks real and is actually cardboard 🙂
The vanity has been a HIT!!!
Kye’s favorite gift was one that almost didn’t happen! Casey texted me about this awesome deal on a hot wheels Star Wars set and at first I told her not to get it b/c I didn’t realize he had some of the Hot Wheels pieces. Well I’m so glad she got it b/c it was AWESOME and he played with it for HOURS!
First time putting together Legos!
Queen Elsa
Kye’s new Star Wars game!
I grabbed a Chewbacca mask last year sometime on clearance (legit paid under $7) then that video went viral and now they are crazy expensive. It is pretty hilarious though!
Our Christmas tradition is Chinese food and it did not disappoint!
We had such a wonderful Christmas holiday this year. I love the time period between Christmas and New Years because we just do a LOT of relaxing and getting things done around the house. It’s a lot of family together time which is the most precious thing to me. We all had a great time on Christmas and appreciate Mrs. Charlotte so much for all she does to put it together! She loves to spoil her grand babies and they eat it right up 😉 I love gift giving and so does she and now with all the deals I find we are DANGEROUS haha!
