Our second day of the trip we headed to Bagel World first thing in order to make sure we could get our hands on some bagels!
Tess’s rash was less noticeable on her body but was more on her face on this day 🙁 She felt fine though! Just looked pitiful!
While Tess napped I took the kids to the pool to swim…but it was closed. They had some issues and wouldn’t be opening until like 10:30. So Zach and the kids got everything ready and went ahead and went to the beach to set up. I met them down there once Tess woke up and took a bottle down for her 11:00 feeding. Last time we were there I nursed her on the beach because she was having bottle issues…I’m glad she takes the bottle so well now!
Rash 🙁
When I was pregnant with Kye the store we bought his baby furniture from gave us this little pop up tent thing for free. It’s a KidCo Peapod and we’ve used it a decent bit through the years. It comes with a great little mattress and Kye has slept in it when we travel even. Britt never used it as she was suchhhhh a lap baby and the times I tried to put her in it she cried and cried until I gave up and just held her. Luckily Tess enjoys playing on her own and is VERY happy to hang out in the little tent! It helps protect her from the sun and gives her a sand-free place to play!
The big kids said they never wanted to leave 🙂 Being at the beach makes me want to win the lottery (can’t win if you don’t play though and we def don’t play ha!) so we can jump ahead in the Dave Ramsey steps so we can get a beach house of our own! I’d LOVE to be able to be at the beach more often!
I mentioned in my last post that it’s important to me to focus on making at least ONE special memory with each child on trips. My special memory with Kye from this trip was napping together 🙂 With Britt? It was playing together in the ocean. I played with her a TON and we laughed and laughed. I swung her around and she just loved it. It’s funny because when Zach takes her out she just wants him to hold her the whole time but with me she wants to play 🙂 I’m not usually the “play pretty” so it made me feel good that she wanted to play with me for a change!
Last year Britt pooped in a public pool (remember?). Ever since then she has this weird issue with bodies of water. She has to “go tee tee” CONSTANTLY. I know it’s a mental thing. She’s nervous about going in the water on accident so she is thinking about it a lot. I’m not sure how to break the habit? She is so funny at the beach b/c she will just stand in the ocean and go. Haha no shame!
The kids had their lunch on the beach and I brought some food for Tess to eat too. I don’t remember ever having my other two sit on the ground or in someone’s lap and eat? Maybe it’s the third kid making me easier going? 😉 It also helps that this child has THE BEST posture. She sits SO straight!
After lunch we played some more and just enjoyed our beach time! It started getting to be nap time so I got the kids up and rinsed off and everything while Zach loaded up all the beach gear and got it to the car. This trip we FINALLY invested in a Beach Wagon
to make the haul easier! When we got back to the room I took the big kids to swim for a little bit before going down for naps, they were late taking naps but sometimes it’s worth it 😉 Zach had another surf lesson that day but decided to cancel it as the full 2 hour lesson the day prior was enough for him to fine tune his skills…and to be completely worn out ha!
Our original plans were to go to Longdoggers for dinner that night but none of us felt like it! We were just straight up LAZY and wanted to just hang out and relax. The kids had been bummed that they couldn’t use the pool that morning and they didn’t get to use it much before naps so we just decided to have some pool fun!
First time at a pool!
We hung out and cuddled and watched the big kids for awhile. The pool was heated but I didn’t want to rush her into it!
They had a kiddie pool which was perfect for her first little test!
The big kids showed Tess how it’s done! I LOVE that they are old enough now to really play together!
Tess wasn’t a huge fan so she enjoyed some daddy snuggling in the sunshine while I played with the big kids in the pool.
Both older kids had to go to the bathroom and decided they were done with swimming…and of course that’s when I had JUST gotten in the pool with Tess! Zach ended up taking them back to the room and I stayed for another 15 min or so with Tess in the pool. I walked around with her and she LOVED it. I didn’t put her head under but her whole body was in and she splashed and was happy about it. It was my favorite memory of the trip with her. It was one of those times where I was so, so sad it had to end.
Back at the room it was a wear-underwear-for-dinner type event 😉
We had plenty of left overs so we just threw together some food for the kids and Zach and I decided to wait until they were in bed to eat ours together. While Zach fixed their dinners I enjoyed some more cuddle time with my babies 🙂
Peanut butter crackers, pretzels, melon, chips, and ham sandwiches…totes healthy!
Tess had such a big, exciting day! As I nursed her that night she reminded me of Britt. My favorite thing when I nursed Britt was the little beads of sweat she’d get on her nose. It was always so cute. I loved that Tess had that same thing 🙂
Both Britt and Tess were sleeping in the EXACT same positions!
That night Zach picked up dinner for us from an Italian place across the street. It’s called Brano’s Italian Grill and if you are ever in the Cocoa Beach area def try it out. It was awesome! We talked a lot about how I wish Cocoa Beach and St Augustine could switch locations. I would love love love to own a place in Cocoa Beach rather than St Augustine Beach. We have so much history in the Cocoa Beach area (I was born there, we got married there, etc etc), I know the area super well as far as knowing good places to own a home, and we have so many things we LOVE down there (like awesome places to eat!). Whereas we love St Augustine but it’s not super kid friendly, we don’t know the area as far as knowing a good spot to own something, and it’s not nearly as special to us as Cocoa Beach is. BUT St Augustine is 2 hours away. That extra 2 hours it takes to get to Cocoa Beach is the game changer for sure. We just wouldn’t be able to use it as much with it being so far! Maybe once we are actually to the point of buying something we will feel differently about the drive?
We ended the trip on a great note….a yummy dinner, some How I Met Your Mother, and some time together!
