Labor Day was really wonderful this year! I got to experience a little vacation but also was able to spend quality time with my little family and our larger family too π A great mix of everything, all in one weekend! On the morning of Labor Day Zach kicked things off right for us with some pancakes for breakfast π
I have a new favorite shopping place: pharmacies! After Christmas I ran into our local Rite Aid for something and ended up stocking up on a TON of great toys that were on clearance. I’ve learned that they are a great place to hit up for toys and seasonal items because they put them on mega, super clearance after major holidays and at the end of seasons. I stopped by the Rite Aid one morning after we dropped Kye off at school and saw this water slide on clearance for only $6! I figured it’d be a super fun thing to do for Labor Day π I had a good idea, but it didn’t work out so wonderfully. Kye couldn’t figure out how to slide down the water slide?!?! It was the funniest thing to watch. He’d RUN up to it then stop right at the start of the slide and then lay down and expect to go hahahahaha
He only ever made it to the bottom with a push from Daddy!
We gave up on the water slide pretty quickly but I left it set up for the cousins to use later that evening π Instead we enjoyed what I’m pretty sure ended up being our last family swim for the summer. We’ve had the strangest weather this year. It took forever for it to warm up, then it rained a ton, and then it was randomly cold for awhile so the pool is too cold again!
Can you find Kye? He now can swim ALL THE WAY across the pool! From the shallow end to the deep end!
Stud. π
We came inside to get ready for naps and enjoyed some “worm watching.” We have a pecan tree in our backyard and this year it was FILLED with these caterpillars! So random! They all fell out of it and were everywhere in our yard for awhile. Like literally anytime I opened the back door I was accidentally squash a couple of them! The kids enjoyed watching them and talking about caterpillars and butterflies! Britt was pretty much obsessed with them. When this kid gets crunk about something, she gets super mega hardcore about it. Here’s a video of her saying “worm” over and over again!
Of course we busted out The Very Hungry Caterpillar for story time π
That afternoon we hosted Casey’s family birthday party! It was probably the best family party we’ve had to date. A big crew came and Casey asked everyone to come wearing a Crazy Hat. Surprisingly, everyone participated!!! I love me some themes and I also enjoy playing hostess and seeing everyone have fun together!
Mr Rusty’s hat: “Jesus is my Homeboy”
Brad’s hat: a yamaka haha
FINALLY we were able to SWIM with everyone and not have a storm interrupt us!!!
Def the most people our pool has ever seen! Loved it π
While we waited for dinner to be ready the kids invented some game with the party balloons that involved sitting on them and popping them. They were loving it, whatever it was!
Trash clean up π
Big kids got to sit at the bar in the kitchen for dinner!
Someday Britt will get to join in π
I love how Mr Rusty’s hat kept changing throughout the evening
Trey always makes me feel appreciated b/c he LOVES my sweet tea! I always try to make some b/c I know he enjoys it and I might have kinda hidden it so he’d be sure to get some before everyone else drank it up!
Birthday Wishes!
After dinner we sent the kids back outside π Of course the biggest kid of all couldn’t resist joining in on their little football game! I love how hands on Zach is with the kids and how fun he makes everything for them π They are so blessed to have him as a daddy or uncle!
Britt wants so badly to be included!
Future Bulldog and Seminole!
Crazy Hat Crew!!!
The party was so much fun! I think Casey probably had one of the best birthdays ever π Now that we know the family will participate in themed parties…I see a LOT more in our future!!! Zach said that Casey and I being so close now is a dangerous combination bc we both love planning events and going all out for them haha.
Casey’s actual birthday was later that week and I thought it’d be sweet to surprise her with something! I debated driving out to her school with Britt while Kye was in school but didn’t want to disrupt her day and wasn’t sure the rules about that so I had the kids help decorate a sign for her front door to surprise her with! They loved making it! Here’s a video of Kye’s explanation for Aunt Casey about his drawing π
Love his rainbow and apple tree!
Britt and I stopped by Rite Aid (I’m telling you…that place is the JAM!) and picked up some balloons. They did NOT stay this pretty by the time she got home but oh well! Then we set everything up on her front door π She was VERY surprised! I also bought her and I matching TCB decals for our cars. Maybe by MY birthday Zach will actually put mine on my back window for me π
Casey is one of the most kind and generous people I know and she always goes above and beyond for others so I’m glad I was able to be a small part in making her day special! Plus Jordan surprised her with Justin Timberlake tickets for December so I KNOW she’s pumped for that. And Jordan is probably super pumped to be playing our body guard the whole night while we get our intense arm dancing going π
