Our Elf, Hermey, came back to visit with us again this year! Britt accidentally touched him on Dec 24th last year (which is the last day he comes to see us before returning to the North Pole) so there had been a LOT of concern around our house leading up to Thanksgiving. Would Hermey come back? Did her touch make him lose his magic forever? Tears were, literally, shed over these concerns.
Thankfully, he came back! We woke up Thanksgiving morning to a lovely surprise of muffins! Hermey has made these for us every year and they never disappoint! We enjoyed all of his visits to our home this year!
Letter from Santa when Hermey arrived!
Sign Kye made to make sure no one touched Hermey this year 😉

FSU vs UF game day!
Made his own pool and enjoyed sipping on some lemonade (Kye pointed out that Hermey actually hadn’t drank any of it…)
Green milk waiting in the fridge for all the kids for breakfast!
Britt had a Mary Poppins birthday party and Hermey took part in the fun!
He also had a special gift for Britt on her birthday!
Shooting hoops with some Disney friends
I was playing with Tess in another room when I heard lots of crying. I ran in to find out that Britt had touched Hermey again. Both kids saw it happen and she admitted it happened. Everyone knows if you touch the elf on the shelf that they lose their magic. I was NOT prepared for this to happen and having two very upset children was not a fun experience.
Mommy thought fast on her feet and remembered that there is a special mailbox downtown that mails letters directly to Santa. I suggested that we put Hermey in a spot to rest. He was probably feeling very sick from losing his magic and since he had already been touched it was okay for Mommy to move him to a safer spot so he could relax a bit. I also suggested that we write Santa an urgent letter and load up in the car and drive to the special mailbox and mail it to him. Y’all. It was straight DRAMA in my house that day.
Zach was out of town so I took this video so he could see what I was dealing with…
Best Mom Ever Award?
The next morning we woke up to Hermey still in the special spot where we put him to rest (the kids provided him with special friends to enjoy and yes the box says “I love you so much, you are the best” ha!) and there was a reply letter from Santa himself! Here is a video Kye reading it 🙂
Once he came back he had special gifts for the kids 🙂
Kye thought it was hilarious that Hermey put himself in a baggy and froze himself in a cup hahahaha kid is too smart 😉
Hermey built a castle for himself!
I think Hermey might have a thing for Elsa 😉
On his last morning (Christmas Eve) he brought special pjs for the kids along with a letter from Santa and a new devo book and Veggie Tales movies!
We love Hermey and can’t wait for him to come visit us again next year!
