Family Fun: March

All about our March!

A big event this month was mine and Katie’s version of the Super Bowl…OSCAR NIGHT! We had a great time seeing all the movies this year and enjoyed watching the awards together. You can see all of my reviews of the Best Picture Nominees here!

We also had our family photos done with Lindsay (from Captured by Colson). Y’all she was SO pregnant yet still met up with us to do our session. That’s some hardcore dedication!!! You can see how they turned out here 🙂

Get it girl!

Only a few days after our photos Baby Wake was born!!! I was SO happy I got to visit Lindsay at the hospital and meet him in person! He’s such a gift from the Lord and I couldn’t be more happy for her sweet family 🙂

My sweet cousin, Susi, invited our family to her wedding this month! I hadn’t seen most of this side of my family in over 5 years so I was naturally VERY excited but also pretty dang nervous too. I wasn’t sure who all from the family would be there and the unknown can be nerve-racking. It ended up going SO wonderful though.

I’ve been SO thankful that time has allowed many doors that were once seemingly shut to be reopened. It was especially awesome to spend time with my cousins as I’ve missed them all so much and it was so fun reconnecting and sharing old stories and it was a true blessing a gift just how naturally everything flowed and how well it all went!

I left the wedding feeling so excited and so hopeful for the future with everyone and can’t wait to spend more time together soon!

It was the first time in over 5 years that I’ve seen my mom. And that went fine too! While it didn’t seem like that door is reopening for now, that’s okay. I’m at a place of peace about that and know I’ve done my part and what I can do from my end. That’s all I can do! It was wonderful to be able to give her a hug and remind her that I love her. Sometimes we have to just love people from afar and while there will always be pain in my heart regarding that, I also have come to accept that it may be just how things have to be. But I’m also hopeful that the future could be different. My brother wasn’t there and I wish I could have gotten to give him a big hug too!

Susi was THE most GORGEOUS bride and the wedding was so beautiful! I loved her dress and all the bridesmaids dresses. It was an intimate setting which made for a great chance to really mingle and enjoy quality time as family!

Meghan and I had SUCH a great time catching up!

Just like I always talk about my kids being so blessed to have “BFF Cousins” I have always been equally blessed in that department. Growing up Meghan is 11 months older than me and Jonathan is 11 months younger so we were all always super close! It’s so awesome that time and distance doesn’t change those connections whatsoever and we all picked up right where we left off 🙂

When we went to leave we didn’t seek out Susi to say bye because, hello it’s her wedding day, but she came running out to give us a huge hug and omg that meant so much to me and was just SO sweet that the bride really went out of her way to make sure she let us know she was glad we came. I cannot express enough how much it means to me to be invited and included for her special day! It’s also CRAZY to me that she’s old enough to be getting married haha Susi is supposed to be a little kid tagging along on our cousin adventures 😉

This girl right here is truly a GIFT to our entire family. She has been HUGE in loving on me and helping to mend so many bridges that she probably doesn’t even fully realize she’s helped to mend. I’m just so thankful she’s exactly who she is! I’m SO excited for Liz and Ben and their sweet baby girl coming soon!

This month Zach and Mr Rusty went on a golf trip together. It was part of Zach’s Christmas gift and part of a prize from some golf tournament Zach won! They had a great time away together!

Now that Spear is sleeping solid at night and going to bed earlier we are able to finally get back in the groove of date nights together! We had a dinner date out this month and I thought it’d be fun to dress like a “secretary” for our date because Zach is always talking about how much he loves me in my glasses haha!

And he wore a cardigan since he knows I have a thing for Mr Rodgers (just kidding…he just happened to wear a cardigan but he did rock it and looked gooooood) 🙂

I also have a new fav spot to grab dinner! I like a good CHEAP meal and Panda Express is awesome for allowing me to get a kids meal. Around $5 and I get a full meal, a cookie and a drink? HUGE WIN!

I invited my MIL to go see “I Can Only Imagine” this month and I can’t recommend it enough! SUCH a powerful movie!!!

We also started the new season of Survivor and I was SO PUMPED to see that this cast member is from Satellite Beach which is my hometown!!!

This is what laundry day looks like when you have 4 kids haha

Katie and I went to Epcot and Z kept the kids for me until we got home and I walked in the door to a fully made bed! He knows the way to my heart 😉

I made Kye’s FAVORITE meal this month! It’s a super easy, kid friendly option!

Zach has struggled with sleep (the only real side effect he’s had so far from MS) so he takes NyQuil on occasion to help him sleep. The lid got left on and it spilled all in our medicine storage spot. Soooo yall know how it is. I went on a cleaning spree and reorganized all of our bathroom storage areas and cleaned out SO MANY experience medicine items etc!

It’s always a HUGE mess to reorganize but it’s worth it!

I threw away all of these too…I mean who files their baby’s nails?!?!

In my cleaning I also found my old glasses. Whew I was BLIND before lasik!

Sexyyyy

It’s annoying that I need glasses after TWO ROUNDS of Lasik but at least they are thin and cute haha!

It’s also that weird time of year where it’s not quite warm enough to lay out but a tan is still kinda needed 😉 I love having my home spray tan system!

Yall are gauchos BACK?!?! I saw these pop up a couple times on FB this month but I’ve yet to see anyone wear them in public…cmon guys let’s make this a THING!

This month our book club read A Wrinkle in Time and then saw the movie! The book is more of a classic geared towards kids but was still a great read and I truly enjoyed the movie! I will say though if you take your kids be warned that it goes VERY dark and is pretty scary. No way would I have Britt see it!

We had a blast at Steak and Shake after the movie! So glad to get together with these awesome ladies!

Daddy made his special homemade chocolate biscuits this month!

We also got this book (The Hiccupotamus) and it’s SUCH a fun read as a family but be warned…Tess and I BOTH legit got hiccups after reading it haha!

These two! I LOVE having same sex siblings. Seeing the girls and their bond is so special 🙂

When Katie and I went to Disney I wanted to get the kids a little gift but didn’t want to spend a bunch of money…hello rock candy for the win 🙂

We had our first family golf cart ride and visit to the neighborhood playground!

Big kids love riding in the back 🙂

We only have a small part of the back deck that we let the kids do chalk on and they had so much fun making a running course out of it!

Here’s a video of the not-so-close race

This month the girls asked to take a shower like Kye does. Showering for girls is WAY harder than boys haha Any tips? Getting them to fully rinse their hair is a struggle!

Britt and Tess and I went on a coffee date and had SO MUCH FUN. Both girls are slightly Starbucks snobs when it comes to our coffee outings and I have to up my game 😉

I posted on IG and got TONS of awesome drink suggestions so be sure to check out the post here if you are looking for new ones to try!

I get the girls the white mocha non-coffee and they love it!

Quality time is the best time!
