This is a summary of our October!
While I was at Disney with the girls the kids and Zach went FISHING!!! It’s something Kye has been wanting to do for a long time and Big Daddy has the perfect pond for it. I love the kids dressed in their fishing clothes π
They caught a TON and had an absolute BLAST!
Jordan took Carter out too π
When I got home from Disney we had ONE last thing on our list to do from Summer that we just hadn’t ever gotten around to doing…Kye read in a book about food fights and he and I had talked about how I’ve never actually been in a food fight? We wanted to have a pie fight but Zach vetoed the idea and instead said we could do a shaving cream one. We had the cans of shaving cream but just kept forgetting to actually do it. We decided it was the PERFECT way to close out the pool for the season!
Aftermath (yall I died when I saw this later b/c I didn’t know I was THAT covered haha)
We ended our pool season by jumping in to rinse off!
If we’d had a few more cans it could have looked like snow π
It’s safe to say I LOST.
Zach had literally nothing on him b/c he’s so dang tall. I’m like the perfect height to really do some damage to me haha. Tess lucked out because she’s too cute π
We had an absolute BLAST and this will def be a new tradition!
I adore walking in to pick up the girls from school and seeing how proud Britt is to help get her sister!
I love trying out new things when Zach is traveling! It’s fun for the kids to have something new to look forward to for dinner and gives me an idea to try out for Zach when he’s home. I got some flat pizza dough to do our own personal pizzas!
YUM!!!
Another favorite when Daddy travels are pizza roll ups! Super yummy and super simple!
Wednesdays has become our crazy night. Britt has gymnastics, every other week Kye has golf lessons, plus we have church. We’ve found it’s often easiest to either eat at church on the nights they offer dinner or hit up the place with the best deals on Wednesdays: Zaxby’s. Kids meals are 99 cents so it’s where we’re at π
The kids had a random day off of school and I really wanted to use the day to do some sort of acts of service in the community. Originally I wanted to go to a police station and hand out treats and let the kids learn some about what being a police officer includes (Kye has talked about wanting to be a policeman when he grows up) but it ended up not being able to work out. We had already had plans to bake some cookies for a sweet member of our church (and a relative on Zach’s side…I think she’s Zach’s dads aunt?) and visit her at the nursing home so we just stuck with that!
Y’all. It took us under an hour to visit with her and then also just visit with everyone we saw in the halls or lobby. It made their DAY. Children bring such joy to older generations. I felt so much guilt that I hadn’t taken my kids there more often and need to remind myself to make more regular visits! It was WONDERFUL. All the kids had to do was smile and offer up some hugs and you could just see people’s faces light up in pure joy. It blessed us more than them for sure!
It’s worked out where we’ve been in town for some Lowe’s Build and Grow events lately which are so fun!!!
On this Saturday we did Lowe’s AND hit up Toys R Us so the kids could make their Christmas wish lists! It’s one of my favorite things to do with the kids. They LOVE getting to walk through the store and pick out things they’d like to have and it makes it super simple for family to know things they’d enjoy as gifts. It’s also an opportunity for the kids to learn budgeting. They physically SEE how much items cost and recognize that a lot of the times stuff is just too expensive and isn’t worth the dollar amount. It was also a great chance for me to show off my deals skills to Zach. I kept pointing out things I’d already purchased that were WAY below the sticker prices in the store π
Always fighting over whose turn it is to do things haha
We even went out to lunch! Something we RARELY do but was SO MUCH FUN!
We then went on a walk to the park that afternoon while Daddy cooked dinner π Such a perfect Saturday!
Especially because it ended with FSU playing π
I do a solid 90% of my holiday shopping in September and October. I like to be DONE and have everything and be able to not stress during the holiday season over it. It also gives me a chance to price compare. I hunt for good deals and grab stuff when it’s the lowest price, but then if it goes lower I just return the higher priced item (I saved $26 by doing this with some of the Legos Kye is getting for Christmas!). The girl who feeds our dog was probably freaking out over the amount of packages I had arrive while we were in New Orleans haha
Of the many packages included a TON of toilet paper hahaha
Kye LOVED his fall festival last year and was excited to attend again this year. It worked out great because it fell the Saturday Zach and I had just gotten home from NOLA. I love trying to do fun family things together when we get home from a kid-free trip and this was perfect! Each class sets up a booth and it’s a big fundraiser for the school.
I was SO thankful Kye’s class wasn’t doing the dart booth. I’d be freaking out helping with that one!
The bake walk is the favorite for our crew!
Zach took Tess home for naps and I signed us up to work Kye’s class booth. We had the same theme as last year and it was an easy one for us to manage π
The kids both picked these hair clips as prizes. HILARIOUS!
Kye’s favorite game is playing detective and Britt loves to be his helper π
We LOVE our walks!
CFA always hosts awesome themed events and they had a pumpkin painting kids night leading up to Halloween. Duh I was all about it. And apparently so were several of my friends haha!
Millie is SO stinking ADORABLE
My kids love to eat out with other kids b/c it means they get a “big kid table” to themselves π
Eli’s expression is awesome haha
So this was a great IDEA. And super sweet that they gave each kid a pumpkin. It was CRAZY crowded and props to Lindsay for suggesting they do a take a number system b/c it really helped it run smoother! But yall. They didn’t use washable paint. And they didn’t have a way to carry the thing home. The things Mommy nightmares are made of haha
Tess stuck with only black and did a really cute dot design!
I had to literally drive with one hand while I held Tess’s pumpkin in the other. Britt and Kye were instructed to hug their pumpkins with a plate. Even so Britt still dropped her pumpkin all down the front of her shirt. Which was the only Halloween themed shirt she had. And it was the first time she wore it. And it was ruined. Sorry Tess no hand me down for you!
Zach got me a set of earrings and a necklace that I ADORE and I freaked out when I lost one of the earrings. I realized it was lost the morning we left for New Orleans and you know how that stuff is, you stress and worry!!! I hunted EVERYWHERE. Even vacuumed and tried digging through all the junk it picked up. Then I went to do laundry and the earring fell out of the dirty clothes! So happy!
I always tell Zach that I can handle a day with Britt being whiney or difficult because that’s a pretty normal day in our home. But if one of the other two kids is also difficult? It throws me into some anxiety! I can’t handle two out of the three being rough! This month Tess went through a STAGE (you’ll see more in her monthly post) and it was ROUGH. I’m assuming it was cutting her molars but whatever it was I needed a BREAK. I’ve NEVER gone to dinner solo but thats what I needed. I didn’t even really give Z an option haha. I texted him and said “when you get home I gotta get out of here” It helped my cause that when he got home Tess was just bawling her head off. So I think he saw why I had to escape for a bit! I hit up Chicken Salad Chick and then got a pedicure. IT WAS HEAVEN. Like I think I need a little ME time once a month or something. I loved loved loved it.
I did a little video series on this situation: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7!
I read an ENTIRE MAGAZINE! What mom ever has the time for THAT?
I did a good bit of fun holiday food this month! Including home made candy corn ice cream! (It was WAY too sweet for me but Britt loved it!)
This is also the candy corn punch I made for Casey’s Halloween Party (I put the candy corn ice cream in with it and it was delicious)
I’m trying to do better with posting recipes on my Instagram Stories so be sure to follow along there! I always make EASY stuff π
I’ve LOVED seeing my kids all support each other in our new world of sports π
Katie had a SUPER fun idea for a girl’s night! We went to Michael’s for a free class (we just had to purchase the supplies) and the one we picked happened to be wreath making. It was SUPER fun and we def made the instructors night haha she was awesome and wants us to come back again. She said she hadn’t laughed that hard in a long time…which may not be a compliment on our wreath making abilities π Took a couple videos: one and two π
We ended the month with our 30 day Disney countdown calendars!
And I started crafting for our trip. I decided to try something CRAZY and make some Mickey Ears π
