Welcome to my second Flashback Friday post! This will be a weekly link-up event every Friday!!! Feel free to share ANY story you wish. You do NOT have to share the same topic I do! It’s fun to read all the different stories we all have from our pre-blogging lives right? I appreciate everyone who linked-up last week (legit: I was SO nervous that no one would participate haha) and hope even more of you will join in on the fun. It was also great to get to read some new blogs I hadn’t visited before and to see everyone commenting on each others posts. I love making new friends in the blog world π
Right now I’m in the process of putting together our Halloween costumes…I decided it’d be fun to flashback to the many different Halloween costumes I’ve worn through the years. I have literally been laughing out loud all by myself while I go through and find all of these pictures. I wasn’t overly excited about Halloween this year…but after looking through these pictures I want to get hardcore into sometype of costume!!!
My birthday is November 1st. My mom actually went into labor with me the night of Halloween. She and my dad had an argument over Milk Duds and that night she headed into the hospital so I could be born π So I was actually a day shy of 1 years old when I celebrated my first Halloween. Mom made my clown costume (and I think my little brother wore it as well?) and I def rocked it π
1985
I’m not sure what year this was…gotta love the sassy cat right?
I don’t know where my love of unicorns came from but I legit had a unicorn themed bedroom growing up. It was awesome. When I would toss a coin in a wishing well (like the fountain at the mall haha) I’d ALWAYS wish that unicorns were real. When I’d blow out my birthday candles…same wish. I still have a soft spot for some unicorns! I’m sure I was THRILLED about this costume!!!
My dad often was the one to take us trick-or-treating…Mom handed out the candy. I’m interested to see how Zach and I handle these duties! π
So awesome!
I LOVE our pumpkins…wasn’t my mom creative? And there wasn’t even Pinterest back then!
Who knows what I was dressed up as here??? Let’s not even talk about my super awkward phase…
6th grade with Nicole Harold…still my fun awkward phase. I believe we attended our first boy girl party that night too. I remember Jared Beard and Selena kissed during spin-the-bottle. I was SO THANKFUL it never landed on me haha
Either 7th or 8th grade, I’m not sure which. With Emily Rosekrans and Amber Heffington. Such simple but cute costumes!!!
In 9th grade I lived in Satellite Beach, Florida. I don’t think I went trick-or-treating but my uncle’s birthday is actually on Halloween so we had a big Halloween party for him. My bff at the time, Maureen, and I attended it together. I found the “cheerleader” costume to be an easy go-to in high school. I was never a cheerleader so I thought it was funny to dress as one π
Sophomore year of high school I lived at my dad’s house on Lake Lanier in the middle of the woods…no trick-or-treating there. By junior year I was living in my “apartment” in Lawrenceville so I got to dress up again π And, again, I went the cheerleader route! I think the person with me is my high school boyfriend, Mark? At first glance I thought it was my dad b/c it’s his mask and hat but since he’s in the second picture it must be Mark?
Dad has enjoyed dressing like Bill Clinton on many occasions…it’s like his cheerleader costume π
Amber Heffington with me again! And Lindsey Pogostin too (and yes, I’m using ALL maiden names here…I’m Emily Sedgley for this post haha)
My high school had a tradition where all the senior girls dressed alike for Halloween at school. I have no clue how that tradition started? Or who picked what we dressed as? But our senior year we were “Pink Ladies” like from Grease. Mark threw on a jacket and some grease in his hair and we went trick-or-treating…why not right?
Once college came we didn’t always dress up. We became active in the Christian Student Center on campus and we had a yearly Halloween party. We hardcore got into it and I LOVE these pictures. The first year our foursome dressed like Mario characters. So awesome π I was the little box that the mushroom comes out of to make Mario “big.” We didn’t win for best costumes but omg we were ROBBED π
Zach, Me, Katie, and Ryan!
We had so much fun making the costumes!!!
I think my favorite costumes ever were the ones we made our first year married…we attended the Christian Student Center Halloween party again and this time we weren’t gonna walk home without that prize π We were pretty obsessed with the show Flavor of Love with Flava Flave (don’t lie, you watched it…Zach and I even had pet fish named New York and Flave). So Zach dressed as Flave and Katie and I were two girls competing for his love…our names were Cocoa and Butta π Tell me we didn’t look awesome?!?!
Katie’s wig makes me totally CRACK UP!!!!
After the Flava Flave costumes (which we DID win best costumes that year…SCORE!) we didn’t dress up again until blogging life existed but I still wanted to include these costumes. For my 25th birthday we went to Disney World because it was that year that you got free admission on your birthday. It was Kye’s first Halloween so we all dressed up as The Little Mermaid theme. Ashley made a great Ariel. Mom was Scuttle (her costume ROCKED!), Zach was King Triton, I was Sebastian and Kye was Prince Eric. We went to eat at Planet Hollywood and walked around Downtown Disney dressed like this. So fun! You can read the blog post about it here π
My costume π
I didn’t dress up in 2010 (Kye was like 2 days into potty training so I was pretty focused on that…) but in 2011 I was pregnant with Brittlynn and love the costume I came up with! Comfortable, simple and pretty dang cute in my opinion π You can see that blog post here!
I’m excited to see what everyone else decides to share this week! The link-up is open ALL weekend long…so if you want to join in you can through Sunday night at midnight π Be sure to come back to this post and visit the blogs that link-up!
Do you have Halloween plans this year? We’re planning to attend our church Trunk-or-Treat party and I’m now super excited to come up with some fun costumes for us all π

These are great and fun times trick or treating in your huge neighborhood. But what the heck were we Dalmatians or cows? Ithink dalmatians but people kept thinking chickfila cows.
WOWWWW you at one looks SO MUCH like Brittlynn but you look NOTHING like you did as a baby?! I mean normally I can see people in their baby pictures… but not you! Did you have some "work done?" hahahaha The unicorn on all fours is…… oh my gosh… I might make that my computer desktop image.
You had some really great costumes! I love the unicorn! I am *hoping* to get a post up to link up tomorrow. π
