Every year for several years now I’ve heard Mrs. Charlotte and the girls talk about this big garage sale they go to in Jacksonville. They have invited me in the past but it’s never worked out for me to go with them. Usually I am planned out pretty far in advance and they tend to be more last minute people π But this year they actually told me the dates for it far enough ahead of time where I put it on the calendar and planned on going!!!
When it actually came time to make the trip I was honestly not in the mood to go. Two hours in a truck to sleep in someone else’s bed only to wake up and garage sale shop then drive two hours back home in the truck? Didn’t sound like what a pregnant girl really wanted to be doing haha. However, this is one time where I was GLADLY admit I was so, so wrong. It was a BLAST!!!
Mrs. Charlotte, Mema, Jolee, Courtney, Casey and I all made the trip and stayed the night with Mema’s sister, Myrle. She has a beautiful home and I enjoyed getting to visit with her, her husband, her daughter and grandchildren that night. We all stayed up late visiting and just enjoying each other’s company. Casey and I shared a bed and I loved talking to her about “mommy things” as we fell asleep π I am SO excited for this new journey she’s beginning as a mother!!!
The next morning we got up early and got going for the sales. Growing up I did my fair share of garage sale shopping. My grandfather would actually go every single Friday and Saturday! Pretty much everything he owned came from a garage sale π I’ve always enjoyed going but it’s something I never do now. I mean who wants to get up early on a Saturday?!?!
This particular garage sale was in Aunt Myrle’s neighborhood. She lives in a super nice community so it was a GREAT sale with TONS of super, mega nice things. We had a GREAT time shopping it up and all found amazing deals!!! I got really into it and could have kept going all day!
With Jolee
One place we visited the lady actually designed dresses and owns a boutique. She had TONS of cute BRAND NEW dresses and we ended up getting them each for like $8 a piece or something crazy like that. It worked out perfectly because I was really needing maternity type dresses and the way they are cut, they make great maternity wear! Casey and I even asked the lady if we could go inside and use her bathroom as a dressing room π And yes, we bought matching dresses too!
Shadow pregnancy pics while waiting on people to make their bargains!
Scored a necklace for $2!
After we finished up our shopping spree we headed back home but first made a stop at Panera for lunch. Ugh. We NEED a Panera in Valdosta!!! If you didn’t need a net worth of 7.5 million to open a franchise then I’d totally go for it. Back in the day Zach and I both said we should open a putt-putt AND said we should open a Froyo. We now have both and both are very successful. If anyone has the money lying around…trust me and open a Panera here. It will make you a ton of money!
Since I didn’t find anything for Zach at the sales…I brought him home a treat π
I racked up!!! The Lightning McQueen outfit was only $2, the nice toy bin storage thing was $12, I spent $30 for 5 of those designer type dresses, one lady gave me a HUGE pile of super nice brand name toddler clothes for Britt (all Gymboree) for only $15, Thomas train stuff for $9 new in the box…I mean it was the sale to end all sales for SURE. The people were all very wealthy so they had super nice things and also didn’t mind practically giving them away π I WILL be going every year from now on for sure!!!!
Not only were the deals amazing, but the quality time with just us girls was so, so fun. Its one of those things you don’t really realize you need to do until you do it and have a blast! I am so blessed to have such amazing family and that we do all get along so well and truly enjoy each other’s company! I especially enjoyed the chance to spend time with Mema. She’s a lot quieter than everyone else so in group settings we often don’t get to see her full personality come out, but she’s awesome!
While I was gone Zach and the kids had a great time and he actually took pictures of their time together π I was only gone Friday night and part of Saturday but I’m glad they enjoyed some Daddy Time!
I love that he took pics of this breakfast he made them π Heart pancakes! I was pretty jealous about missing the pancakes…
Mickey ones for Kye!
When we drove up all three of them were in the yard working. Zach tore up ALL our pinestraw and worked SUPER hard in the yard. We’ve lived in our house for about 3.5 years now and are kinda embarrassed to be one of the first houses people see when they enter the neighborhood. Our yard has never really been up to par with what it should be and he has really done a LOT to get it in shape! I love that the kids enjoy helping so much and that he lets them do a lot of things with him like that. Kye especially had a GREAT time and took so much pride in showing us everything they had accomplished while we were away!
March was a GREAT month for me when it came to having fun with my friends! Not only did I have that little get-away for the garage sale, but a group of us all went to see the premiere of Divergent. Girl’s nights are SUPER important to me. Being with my kids all day everyday is a blessing…but sometimes Mama needs a BREAK and there is nothing quite like a group of girls laughing and hanging out together. I always feel so refreshed after quality time with some of my favorite friends! For this movie premiere we all took quizzes to see which faction we belong to and were supposed to dress like our faction. As you can see some of our group should be VERY happy that we’re all willing to hang out with the factionless π
When I took the quiz I am Candor…which is NOT surprising!
Had to hit up some Steak and Shake after…of course π Love the random pics haha
We all celebrated Crissy’s birthday that night as well so it was double the fun!
Also in March Zach and I finally had a date night. I always laugh when I read my old blog posts prior to having Kye and how we promised each other we would do a WEEKLY date night once we had a baby. HAHAHA. I mean we are seriously lucky if we get one every couple of months. Once Casey and Jordan have their baby and once we have ours and are settled in we plan to take turns having date nights! We live so close and could easily have one of us stay with our own babies while the other runs to Casey and Jordan’s house while Carter is sleeping so they can have a date night and they can easily split up and do the same for us too! Until then we just make it work when we can π
This date was actually due to us trying out a legit paid-for babysitter. Up until this point we have ALWAYS had family watch the kids. But now that we are all having babies it’s time for us all to come up with some out-side family childcare. I was SO nervous to have a sitter come to the house but we just went on a quick dinner date (only gone for 90 min) and I did okay π We are still on the hunt for good sitters so if you are local and recommend anyone please do let us know! Since we do travel so much and since everyone is in Aflac now (Rusty, Zach, Jordan, Brad…) we may need people at some point who would be able to watch the kids while we are gone (freaks me OUT to even have to THINK about it but it’s a possibility) so I want to get to know plenty of good quality people now before we are in a bind and really need someone, ya know?
We also decided on a boy name that night! We have had two full names that neither of us could choose between and we used some sugar packets to make the final decision π We both held two different colors of packets and decided which color went with which name and then, at the same time, put the one down on the table that we wanted to use. We both picked the same name so it’s official!
I’m SUPER thankful for all the fun times March brought to my life. Now that the days of “freedom” are drawing to a close for me I’m hoping to squeeze in some more fun girl time and some date nights with my husband before this baby is born!!! I know what life is like with a newborn and know that, realistically, it’ll be AWHILE before I’m able to go and do very much so I hope to savor this time and make lots of fun memories to hold me over while I’m house bound π
