This is Kye’s summary from April (I know it’s stinking JULY right now. I’m trying to play catch up!).
The BIG NEWS from this month is that Kye lost his first tooth! The dentist told us to expect him to hold onto his baby teeth until age 7. Due to his growth delay stuff we expected him to take longer than the average age to begin losing teeth. I’ve been in nooooo rush. Let’s be real: the early adult teeth smiles aren’t always the cutest haha! Plus Kye has a small mouth and needs all the time to make SPACE that he can get!
He lost his first tooth while on our Spring Break trip to Cocoa Beach. I went into the kids room to wake them up from naps and was cuddling with Britt when Kye said “well I just pulled out my tooth!” Haha!
Several months ago I found MY baby teeth in the attic (creepy? yessssss…. awesome? double yes!) and Kye was all about it! So I ordered this book from Amazon so he would be able to keep his baby teeth too (and I brought it on the trip b/c I had that mama hunch that we’d need it!)
Writing his note for the tooth fairy!
I bought this pillow actually several years ago from Zulily for him to store his tooth and note in!
By the end of the month his new tooth was well on it’s way to coming in…and whew it’s HUGE. I have no clue how in the world he’s gonna fit more of them in there!
Also this month Kye had an Art Show at school. Such a cute idea! The hallways were covered with several of the kids’ artwork from art class throughout the year and they had refreshments for us to nibble as we all got to walk around admiring their work. Colt and Payton’s school actually makes their Art Show into a fundraiser where you can purchase the work in a nice frame or something which is pretty dang genius!!!
Our proud artist! (I adore the hippo!)
I know I say it all the time but my kids have THE BEST G-Mama. She always, always wants to attend every event. Big or small, she’s there showing her support! We are blessed beyond measure by her!
Family pic attempts, always entertaining 😉
I have pretty much always carried Tess everywhere b/c it’s just EASIER. Letting her down to walk though is so, so precious. It’s fun hearing all the comments about how adorable she is 😉
We had a few treats this month:
I made chocolate pudding (Really for Zach as he loves it)
Kye is OBSESSED with cereal. Which reminds me 100% of my little brother growing up. Kid could eat cereal all day every day and still want more. Kye is the same way and asks for cereal every afternoon after school. We usually only do multigrain cheerios but sometimes you gotta hook a kid up with something sweet 😉
HOLD THE PRESSES. At 7 years old Kye FINALLY had his first cup of CHOCOLATE MILK! I know, we’re gettin’ crazy over here haha. It was a one time thing but Zach and I wanted some chocolate milk with our waffle breakfast so we had to let the kids have a cup too. 😉 They were PUMPED. I’m always so proud of Kye about his choices and at school, when he buys lunch, he ALWAYS gets the white milk. It’s not that I have a thing against chocolate milk, I just know of SO many kids who “won’t” drink white milk b/c they’ve had chocolate and I just haven’t ever wanted to have that struggle with my crew so we don’t do chocolate 🙂
Our family walks have been a bit hit, especially for Levi! The kids argue over who gets to walk him on his leash!
Kye is our little reading machine. He loves to read. Like we have to tell him over the monitor to GO TO SLEEP because he’ll be up all night reading if we let him! I love his love for books and am so crazy impressed at the HUGE leap he made in his reading abilities.
Kye is SO thoughtful and sweet. He’s always putting others ahead of himself and this month he threw a little “party” for Mommy and Daddy 🙂
Some of my FAVORITE moments of the day are hanging out on the front porch with Kye when he gets home from school! I love the look he gets on his face when he first sees me off the bus and I love his excitement as he runs across the yard to meet me. Kye and I just really share a special bond and understanding of each other. I know he’s only 7 but he just “gets me” and I think it’s because we think so similarly. If I’m frazzled he will say “thank you Mom for all you do.” It’s like he already understands that the best feeling in the world is to feel appreciated!
When we got home from California I really wanted some solo time with each big kid. Kye and I went to Steak and Shake and then to The Mix and got Dip and Dots for the first time (his first time). It was great to get to have that one on one time and reconnect after I’d been out of town for so long! I had missed my sweet boy!
I actually didn’t have my phone with me at all on our date! I had totally left it at home! Lucky for us we happened to run into Mema and Mrs. Charlotte at Steak and Shake so they took some pics for me and texted em to me 😉
Kye may think like me, but he takes after Zach with his annoyingly good at everythingness. Always dominates me at Checkers. As in, I don’t stand a chance!
Mr. Inventer loves to take trash and turn it into things (this is a kite)
He has such a strong work ethic and always has that happy heart in all he does!
And he can be a bit silly too 😉
A few more things about Kye this month:
- He is REALLY starting to pay attention during church services. He sings and listens to the lesson and it makes us so proud!
- He’s at that “collection” age. Where he has like a million collections (if I find a dang rock in my washing machine one more time…)
- He cracks us up at how he tells stories and retells movies. EVERY DETAIL gets told. It’s funny but whew it takes him forrrrreeeevvvvverrrr!
There is only one video from this month and it makes me laugh every time! Kye came home from school telling me about someone he learned about that day and pronounced his name for me and it was just so funny! You can see it here!
