Lazy Christmas Days

Christmas morning was fabulous…I was straight up EXHAUSTED when we got home and I slept the entire time the kids slept for naps! We were all so lazy and it was such a blessing that we had ZERO plans!

Growing up my mom always hid a pickle ornament in our tree…have you ever heard of this? I think it’s pretty common now? Anyways whoever finds the pickle gets a prize! I wanted to carry on that tradition at our house so I hid the pickle and the kids (mostly just Kye, obviously) went on a hunt for it when we all woke up that afternoon! Here’s a video it’s pretty hilarious…I hid the pickle a little too well. Hahaha

He found it!

The prize was a Santa duck for the bathtub πŸ˜‰

We open ALL of our family gifts at Mrs. Charlotte’s house on Christmas morning so we don’t really have presents at our house to open. It works out great that my dad and Audrey mail us presents as we get to have a little mini-Christmas at home when we open their gifts! The kids were so excited to have presents from Grandpa and Grammie!

My dad is a HUGE Elvis fan…think he might be trying to pass the Elvis love down to Kye?!?!

Next we let the pets open their gifts that the kids picked out for them at our dollar store trip!

Then we opened our stocking presents to each other. It was so fun to see what everyone picked out!!!

Zach unloaded the car from Mrs. Charlotte’s with ALL the Christmas toys for us to sort through and enjoy together. Our dining room was overflowing with stuff and it was seriously SO FUN. We stayed in pjs and opened all the boxes and just played and played and played some more. It really was the PERFECT way to spend Christmas afternoon. Being lazy and enjoying each other πŸ™‚ Since we open presents at Mrs. Charlotte’s it can be a tad crazy so we try not to let the kids actually take anything out of the box. Can you imagine how easily stuff would get lost?!?! It was def smart to wait until we got home to dig in!

Of course, she wanted to play with brother’s stuff more than her own

She got very adventurous!

Belle needed to go for a ride πŸ™‚

For dinner Zach went to town to try to find somewhere that was open…we decided on Chinese food! Literally it’s been YEARS since I’ve eaten Chinese! We all enjoyed it!

Y’all know how much I adore traditions…well sometimes life throws some curveballs and you gotta roll with ’em. This year our holiday traditions got switched up and we had to make some decisions about how to move forward and create new ones with our little family. Zach was SO AMAZING. He knew how hard it was for me and put forth so much effort in making our holiday time special. And it was. Seriously…probably one of the best Christmas’ yet!!!

I decided I think I enjoy Dec 26th even better than the 25th! We were just straight LAZY the entire day. No rushing around. No having to get ready. Just played and played to our hearts content. I got several things organized which I normally wouldn’t take the time to do and the kids got to break in all their new toys. As did the adults πŸ˜‰ Zach got an oilless turkey fryer and wanted to put it to use so HE suggested that our new post-Christmas tradition can be where HE cooks a FANCY meal for us all. It was WONDERFUL!!!!

The Turkey

He set the dining room table and everything…and even used my Lenox Christmas China!

Even Kye had a seat at the big table with the fancy dinnerware πŸ˜‰

I look so sexy huh?!?!

Enjoying Mema’s homemade jelly she gave us for Christmas

We had the AWESOME turkey, green bean casserole, homemade garlic mashed potatoes, and dinner rolls πŸ™‚ All I did was make the sweet tea!

Our entire winter break was SO LAZY. Usually I get the itch to go and do but I just sat back and enjoyed it. We got a ton done around the house which was nice. I got my new computer set up and running and Zach worked on organizing the storage shed πŸ™‚ A few late gifts arrived for me too! I finally have a cute camera strap cover like I’ve been wanting for years now! LOVE IT!!!!

Zach had bought me a jewelry set at our Christmas and he knew I didn’t really like it. He had attended a Steel’s event and had like $200 credit to spend and just kinda bought something! He exchanged it for me and got what I really wanted…a gold Toy Watch! I LOVVVVE IT!!!!!

During the break poor Kye kept getting a fever, would feel cruddy, then would be fine, then get a fever, feel cruddy, and be fine. He never STAYED sick long enough for me to bother with the doctor though. I just treated the fevers and let him drink a LOT of juice and chill a lot (he got a Mighty Machines dvd pack for Christmas…omg OBSESSED!). He loved having a “little bed” made on the couch for him πŸ™‚

I used to always be such a negative person and would let “tough times” get the best of me. I’m so proud of myself for moving forward and focusing on my MANY blessings instead of the areas that I may be lacking in life. I have such an AMAZING husband and WONDERFUL children and they fill each of my days with joy and happiness. We had a fabulous Christmas this year and I look forward to adding more babies to our crew one day to continue to add to the already awesome family we’ve built πŸ˜‰
