I thought this post would fit well right here since I just got done saying how hard I work to feed Kye healthy foods. 🙂 I credit Weight Watchers for helping me lose all my baby weight. The thing I love most about it is that I was still able to eat my snack every night!!! My routine, for as long as I can remember, has been to have a bowl of ice cream every night. Sure, there are some nights I don’t eat it but for the most part I do. I just LOVE ice cream! Back when I gained a little newlywed weight I dieted by counting calories (and using Spark People…it’s a great site!) and adjusted to eating lower calorie type ice creams. With Weight Watchers I get 1/2 a cup of ice cream for 3 points…not too bad! Of course the toppings I add make it a little higher but if I’ve had a high point day I just put less toppings on. And if I have a day where I know I will need ice cream later then I just won’t eat lunch or something (seriously I’d rather starve all day than skip my ice cream on bad days!)
Zach makes a lot of fun of me for two things: 1. how many toppings go on my ice cream each night and 2. how LONG it takes me to get it ready! We usually eat our nightly snacks together and watch a show we have taped on TV. I take at least twice as long to get ready to watch as he does haha. Here’s the toppings I like on my ice cream: chocolate sprinkles, a little choc syrup, gummy bears, cinnamon toast crunch cereal, coconut, and mini marshmallows. If we have other candies lying around from a recipe or something (m&ms, choc chips, etc) then I’ll add those too! Plus the types of ice cream I eat always have bits of something in them like cookies and cream, waffle cone, or toffee crunch.
When I’m having a bad day my snack is the highlight of it. There is nothing better than mixing up all my toppings with my ice cream and digging in while watching a good show! And my favorite bites are the ones with a gummy bear, piece of cereal and a marshmallow 😉
Do I sound a little crazy about some ice cream? We joke a lot that addictive personalities run in my family. Several family members have struggled with addiction issues and I believe it’s in our blood to just easily get addicted to things. My mom, for example, can’t survive too long without popping open a Diet Coke. Ice cream is my drug of choice I guess! I’m like that with other things too. I’ll go through spurts where I’ll eat the same thing every day. Typically it’s with breakfast food. I’ll either want cereal every morning, or a pop tart, or waffles, etc. I also love milk and freak out if we don’t have plenty of it in the fridge.
Call me strange or whatever but I don’t see myself trying to stop this addiction anytime soon 😉
