We do SO many fun things during the Halloween season! It’s great b/c it means we have lots of opportunities to wear our costumes 😉 When you do all that work you wanna get to use ’em!
An event we really enjoy is our church Trunk or Treat! It’s always a great time! This year it was held at Raintree Village (our church is undergoing a rather large construction project) and we were ALL surprised when G-Mama and Big Papa joined us! G-Mama has come along for several of our Trunk or Treat nights but it was Big Papa’s first time 🙂
Side note but will you say a prayer for Mr Rusty? A few days prior to our trunk or treat he had a BAD accident. He was trying to get an armadillo out of a hole (yes, this sounds like a super country story ha!) and a piece of fence (that he was using to get the armadillo out) popped up and went directly into his eye. Didn’t hit any skin at all. Went straight into the eye ball. Horrible huh? He had to have emergency surgery on his eye and is STILL (2 months later) unsure of what the future holds for it. He is in my daily prayers and I specifically pray for his frustration. I’m sure it’s beyond frustrating dealing with this issue and not knowing when, or even if, his vision will go back to normal. They have already told him his eye will always be dilated and he will need special glasses to wear at night b/c his eye is so sensitive to the light. We are SO thankful he didn’t lose his vision completely (as we know it could have been worse than what it is!) but we are praying for a positive end result and for it to get resolved soon for him!
This little cutie LOVED trunk or treat!
Our favorite trunk was handing out milk and cookies 😉
Tess got this little shaker toy and LOVED it!
Something we are less into is pumpkin carving. I know some people get super into it, but it’s just not really something we get crunk about? I mentioned in our pumpkin patch post that pumpkins rot here super easily b/c it’s so hot. So I think that’s part of the reason we don’t enjoy carving as much. We have to wait until SO close to actual Halloween if we want the pumpkin to make it and it just feels like what’s the point of carving it at that point, ya know?
We just get one big pumpkin so it’s cheaper and less to carve 😉 This year Kye was really, really excited about it. So we let him take the reigns…including using a legit knife. Not gonna lie, it made me a tad nervous!
This girl cared zero percent about the whole process 😉
Designing our pumpkin!
Finished product!
Another now annual activity that we love is the party Casey hosts at her house for Halloween. Anytime the family can all be together it’s a blast and who doesn’t love a themed event? You know I’m alllll about that!!!
I’ve been pretty deal obsessed this year and got an amazing deal on some lemon pudding (I paid $4 for 48 lemon puddings!) and wanted to put them to good use so I contributed some minions to the party food 🙂
I figured I’d stick with kid friendly contributions and I made popcorn ghosts as well as ghosts cheese!
Casey had so many cute decorations and crafts for the kids!
The two toddlers were so precious running around 🙂
Guilty face 😉
In this family there is ALWAYS a football and ALWAYS a competition 😉 It was really precious to watch Mrs. Charlotte play with the kids and they all LOVED it!
We got to meet Jolee’s boyfriend, Seven (tight name right?), and he is super sweet (and cute!) and I hope we get to see a lot more of him in the future! Jolee is so special to us and deserves all the happiness in the world 🙂
Not only was there a football showdown, but we had to have our costume contest too!
Mr. Rusty as his Big Daddy and Mrs. Charlotte as “Big Mama” (please future grandchildren…do not dub me as “Big Mama” okay? thanks!)
Jolee as Little Red Riding Hood
The Bacon’s as the football star, his dad/coach, and his CRAZY fan mom!
Payton as Gem from some older tv show? She rocked it!
The Fleming Family (Payton was the only one in costume although in this pic you could say Colt was dressed as a football player!)
Seven as Waldo
Little Mama as a witch
Gabi (our newest Parker!) as a minion (tell me she’s not adorable?!?)
Cheryl as a stressed out nurse 😉
And our crew as The Incredibles!
I gotta say I LOVED the judges this year…b/c we totes dominated that beast and won for best family costume and Little Mama took home the prize for best individual one 🙂
