Following our boat pics we headed back to the room and got ready for another adventure! We decided to split up the beach days and have one day of no-beach in-between the two days of beach fun. That way we could do our boat pics, putt-putt, and hit up the park! It all worked out awesome! The putt-putt place opened at 10 and we got there right at opening and then were at the park just in time for lunch π We had a coupon for Fiesta Falls so we went there this year…which, by the way, has anyone ever noticed how expensive putt-putt is?!?! Thankfully Britt was still free and I just opted not to play. I wasn’t sure how well Britt would last or how well I’d last in the heat so I def didn’t want to waste that money!!!
It shocked both Zach and I but Britt wanted to actually PLAY!!! Just this past Feb, the last time we played putt putt when we were at Disney, she had ZERO interest. Zach later said that it was one of his favorite things about the entire trip π She was really cute about it and kept saying “my turn!” and truly enjoyed it which really made Zach’s heart happy for sure!
Of course Kye is a straight pro at this point π
Even though we got there pretty much right when the place opened, we got stuck behind some slooooow people. It was a good chance to practice being patient! Even for us adults π
We officially have another golfer in the family!
Cooling off inside the pirate ship
I love Kye’s concentration face…that tongue sticking out totally helps him make his putts!
Hole in One Baby!
She even wanted to carry her ball and club to each hole
Yes, he ALWAYS keeps score!
Official member of the hole in one club π
Of course, Daddy made a hole in one too!
Britt lasted 13 holes. I mean y’all that’s pretty amazing! She didn’t play every hole but she didn’t complain or cause any disruptions until hole 13. I was pretty impressed seeing as last year I vividly remember having to haul her hiney to the car very early on in the game. I didn’t mind having to be finished at hole 13. Honestly I was melting at that point. Even though it was rather early in the day it was HOT. Britt and I went inside and the owners of the course felt so sorry for me they gave me some bottled water and a fan. I guess I look pretty pathetic when I’m hot, sweaty, and pregnant haha! Britt and I had a great time actually. We looked at all the brochures of things to do around St Augustine and she was happy as could be sitting with me by the fan until the boys finished up.
Final scores!
Kye’s getting pretty legit π
It was so neat on the way back to the park because we got stopped by the draw bridge! When you don’t have kids things like trains and bridges and firetrucks don’t seem all that interesting. Usually the traffic delays are pretty downright annoying! But once you have kids, your perspective totally shifts. Now I get pumped when we get stopped by a train and we all get excited to see a policeman on the side of the road waiting to hand out a speeding ticket π Kye was very excited about the draw bridge and we had a good time watching the boats coming under it and discussing it all. He is VERY into that kind of thing. He loves talking about vehicles and machinery and how they work and what their jobs are. I’ve learned quite a bit from him actually!
At the park we ate our lunches. Zach and I got Subway and we had packed the kids lunch from the room. They were both so eager to play on the playground that they didn’t eat a whole bunch though! A little boy came up to me almost as soon as we sat down and continued to come up to me throughout our stay there. It always makes me sad when kids approach me for attention. It happens kinda often. Their parents are often no where to be found (like at ChickFilA when the mom is usually the one sitting across the restaurant as far away from the play place as possible…) or their parents are in view but are on their phones. I am def not one to entertain my kids 24/7. But at least show interest in them! I enjoy watching my children have fun! Sure I will sit and check my Facebook too from time to time but I hope my kids never seek attention from a random stranger due to a lack of attention I’m giving them. It hurts my heart! I think I ended up watching that little boy more than I did my own kids haha!
Kye and Britt both had a GREAT time! It was so cute watching them each do their own thing. Sometimes they played together, but most of the time they actually split up. Which isn’t typical for them. Britt even played a little with another girl close to her age and Kye ended up playing a lot with the little boy who was seeking my attention!
It’s blurry but too funny not to include…Britt is NOT too sure about Daddy swinging her and Zach looks like it’s a lot of work?!?! haha
At 5 years old you gotta swing yourself π
Waiting for the carrosel
I love the carrousel and, really, the entire little park. It’s so nice and shady and has some great options for play. It is odd they don’t have any bathroom? But we only stay every year for an hour or so and, so far, the no bathroom thing hasn’t been an issue thankfully! We just did one ride on the carrousel this year. Britt wasn’t free so we didn’t ride extra haha. I know that someday all of our children will be grown and our St Augustine traditions will change. I’m sure when our youngest is “too old” for the park we won’t go anymore. It’s hard to imagine, but I’m sure that day will be here before we know it! I wanted to ride with the kids this year because I am so limited with my foot and it’s one thing I def can manage π
We waved HI a lot to Daddy!
And we blew him lots of kisses too!
Kisses!
We had a great time at the park!
On our way leaving the park we saw these two women in a fancy yellow car. They didn’t realize the parking lot they were in ended I guess and they drove over the edge. Their car was stuck. They kept trying to back up back over the hump which was not a good idea! I mean, it was pretty comical. Typical women drivers right? (JOKING people!!! Please feminists don’t attack me haha I’m a woman driver myself!). Anyway we pulled over right away because Zach wanted to help. Which was sweet and I’m glad he did. Zach is very smart at things like that. He was able to help them figure out a way to safely get their car out of the place it was stuck without damaging it. It was a good opportunity to talk to the kids about helping others too!
We got back to the room and had naps (oh yes, ALL of us! I got very used to my afternoon naps on this trip!). After nap we decided to hit up the pool for awhile. We played and had a great time! It’s always so fun to have Kye at a more public pool. We don’t really think about this swimming skills anymore, but he is SUCH a good swimmer especially for his age. People are always impressed and always end up asking us about swim. Another kid we saw was older than Kye and was wearing a life vest in the pool! I can’t imagine being stuck in some kind of flotation device at that age! I’m thankful Kye is able to swim like a fish and he had a blast making up all kinds of jumps π
Impressin the ladies π
Britt just loves the stairs at this age…which I don’t mind at all. At home I make her practice her swim skills but I’m def not as hardcore with her as I should be. Being this pregnant makes it tough π I will def be signing her up for more lessons than normal in Feb when we do swim again! But she LOVES the water and she and I had a great time playing different games on the step area. She loved to pretend to be different animals, usually a frog π
After we swam for a bit we got ready for dinner. We debated what to do for dinner that night and decided prior to the trip to eat out. We don’t eat out often but since we weren’t eating dinner with Katie’s family like we normally do for the 4th…we had an extra night with no plans! We decided to go for Zaxby’s. And I know what you are thinking…Zaxby’s on vacation?!?! LAME! But we love Zaxby’s. We rarely ever eat there. And it’s cheaper than some nice sit down place! The kids were pumped about the special treat and we had an awesome time!
My new all time FAVORITE picture of them together!!! I love Britt’s REAL smile!
The past couple years we have been getting froyo at a cute little place near our beach spot. We decided to go there for dessert that night rather than try to do it after the beach the next day. It was easier to do at that time and wouldn’t take away from our beach time! Sadly when we got there they had shut down!!! So sad!!! We ended up going into Publix and picking out an ice cream treat for all of us to share. M&M ice cream cookie sandwiches?!?! Oh yeah, that happened! It was one of those random, fun moments. All four of us walking through the store being silly and having a blast! We were PUMPED for our desserts and they did NOT disappoint! As an added bonus Zach and I decided to take the kids to the beach to eat our treats. By this time it was almost 7…which is bedtime for Britt. We were SO rebellious π But I was on this BIG KICK about how we won’t have this much freedom again for a couple years…so I wanted to take full advantage!
We ate our treats on a boardwalk area before going to the beach for a little evening fun!
Beach time!!!
Love this pic of him! My little beach boy!
Racing to burn off those ice cream calories π
We stayed for about 20 min or so. Just long enough to enjoy it and then we headed back! It was a special little adventure and it’s nice that our kids appreciate the small things like this!
Gotta love that windblown beach hair look π
Had to have a “Leo” pic too π So excited to have a cute baby join us on the beach next summer!
Love!
This is what a beast mode Daddy looks like haha
They loved it π
Even with being total “rebels”…we still got back to the room before 8 pm haha. I guess we aren’t so wild and crazy after all π We did skip baths and Britt was, once again, OUT as soon as we put her to bed! I was a little nervous going into this trip because she’s in a big girl bed at home now…but we rigged up the pack and play in the closet like usual and she slept awesome the whole time!
