When we first found out that we had to go to Tallahassee to see a specialist about Kye’s growth delay I decided I wanted to make it a FUN day for Kye. On our way to school every morning we pass by a local donut shop and Kye always talks about donuts. I’m pretty sure that donuts are probably Kye’s favorite food. Why not take advantage of the Tallahassee trip and let him experience the BEST donuts in the world?!?!
Kye was PUMPED for our Tallahassee trip because it meant he got to watch a movie in the car (we ONLY watch movies in the car on longer road trips) and we told him we’d be going to get donuts that melt in your mouth after we went to the dr. Zach and I had originally talked about staying in Tallahassee a little longer and doing something special just the three of us but the Krispy Kreme experience was awesome. It was the PERFECT thing for Kye and he didn’t need any other “special” thing. Plus it cost us under $10 🙂
First time seeing donuts be made!
Up until this point we’ve never allowed Kye any type of flavored milk to drink. I love strawberry flavored milk and didn’t even think about it when I bought some for myself. Of course Kye wanted to try it so I let him have a few sips. It is NOT something we plan to allow again anytime soon though! He def deserved the special treat 😉
Hats are a MUST!
Dear Iphone Dad…haha just kidding. It was a WORK DAY so Zach had to handle a few things while Kye and I watched the donuts get made 😉
Another family was there and Kye enjoyed talking to the girls all about the donuts
Had to get a picture with the “hot and ready” sign!
I have SUCH great memories of going to Krispy Kreme when I was a kid. It really is a great experience…getting to eat AMAZING donuts, getting to see them be made, and getting to wear a super cool hat too 😉 Kye couldn’t have asked for a better way to spend the morning and he was truly so, so happy. It blessed me so much to be able to make a fun memory out of a nerve-wrecking day.
Since we had to go back to Tallahassee again at the end of April (and know we will have to go back again next year as well) we decided to make the Krispy Kreme stop our tradition whenever we have to visit Dr. Wright. Hopefully the visits will always be as quick and simple as they have been for us thus far but if by some chance they do get a little tougher for Kye to handle, at least he’ll know those “melty” donuts will be waiting for him after it’s over! As soon as we finished up with our second appointment we headed over to Krispy Kreme right away!
The first time we went Zach and I were SO SICK from all the donuts. This time we both drank water instead of milk (and I packed Kye a sippy cup of white milk!) and ate less donuts. OF course the lady hooked us up with three extra donuts when we were trying to limit ourselves haha. Luckily Zach and Jordan were going out of town on business afterwards so they took the left over donuts…I did NOT need that temptation at the house!!!
Kye’s little tummy is SO FULL haha 😉
Kye wore his hat the entire way home while watching a movie, precious!
Kye is already talking about how he gets to go back to get more donuts next year and how we’ll be able to take Britt with us that time too! I love how we have found a way to bring some FUN and something positive to an otherwise worrisome situation. While it’d be great if our next trip is our last, I have a feeling (assuming Kye IS a late bloomer like Zach was!) that it will be a yearly tradition…which I know Kye won’t mind one bit!
