Topolino’s Character Breakfast at Disney World

Meeting characters is one of the best experiences during any family vacation to Walt Disney World and dining with characters is an extra-special way to meet them. Topolino’s Character Breakfast at Disney World has been on my must-do list since it opened and I was able to enjoy an amazing breakfast with friends and then visit again with my entire family!

Here’s everything you need to know regarding Topolino’s Terrace Character Breakfast as well as our own personal experience in honor of my daughter’s 8th birthday!

Where is Topolino’s Character Breakfast?

Topolino’s Terrace restaurant is located at Walt Disney World Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Florida (just outside of Orlando) and is Disney’s Riviera Resort Character Breakfast.

Topolino’s Terrace – Flavors of the Riviera is located on the rooftop of Riviera Resort allowing guests a chance to enter the resort (and do some exploring) as well as visit the rooftop area to take in the gorgeous views.

While visiting Riveria Resort be sure to walk around and check out the amazing Walt Disney Company details!

What Characters Appear at Topolino’s Terrace Character Breakfast?

Topolino’s Terrace is open for both breakfast and dinner. At breakfast, the restaurant is referred to as Topolino’s Terrace – Flavors of the Riviera Breakfast a la art with Mickey & Friends (say that 5 times fast!).

Breakfast includes character meetings with Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck and Daisy Duck. Each of the beloved characters is dressed in adorably detailed uniquely French-inspired outfits.

Characters are only available during breakfast hours, not at the dinner seating.

When meeting characters during your breakfast they WILL sign autograph books so be sure to have your books open and ready and have a sharpie on hand πŸ™‚

We were also given cute little signature cards with photos of the characters and their signatures!

How Much Does Breakfast Cost at Topolino’s Terrace?

The character breakfast experience at Topolino’s is prix fixe menu and costs $35.99 per child and $59.99 per adult as of post publication date.

When planning your Disney vacation budget, keep in mind that Disney pricing is child prices for ages 3-9. At age 10 children are priced the adult pricing. Younger than age 3 eat for free (but DO need to be included on your reservation!).

In my experiences at Disney restaurants sometimes the cast member asks for ages of children, and sometimes they don’t. Occasionally my children over age 10 have not been charged adult pricing (which my wallet greatly appreciates!).

I would NEVER partake in nor advise lying or being misleading regarding the ages of children in your party, however, I’m not against a don’t ask – don’t tell situation either. Sometimes a bit of Disney magic occurs!

Topolimo’s Character Breakfast DOES accept Annual Passholder Discounts and will also be part of the Disney Dining Plan that is rolling back out in 2024.

Food Review of Topolino’s Character Breakfast

Topolino’s Terrace Character Breakfast is a plated meal, not a character breakfast buffet like Chef Mickey’s nor a family-style breakfast like Ohana.

Instead, each member of your party will be given options to choose from and served individual orders of their choosing.

Pastries and bread are served for the table to share (in an ADORABLE art-themed paint bucket with a paint pallet filled with yummy dips and spreads). The chocolate chip muffins with hazelnut spread are a must-try!

Juices and assorted beverages are included (such as sodas, coffee, and even POG juice!). The menu includes additionally priced items such as specialty drinks, coffees as well as alcoholic beverages.

Adult guests are instructed to choose one entree from eleven different entrees while kids can choose 1 entree or 2 from the create your own selection section of the menu.

In both of my personal experiences at Topolino’s, we were encouraged by our server to select multiple entrees (2 per adult) and to mix and match sides with our orders.

Being able to select multiple items created an “all you care to enjoy” experience for our family and allowed us to sample many selections and made the entire meal very enjoyable and of better value for the amount of money being paid.

I do not know if this is standard practice for the restaurant, but being kind to your server and politely asking never hurts and just may result in the same scenario for your visit too!

All of the food was fantastic. The majority of the adults in our party ordered the Wood fired Butchers Steak and it was incredible. I also personally enjoyed the Sour Cream Waffles as well as the Smoked Salmon. My mother-in-law said the Wild Mushroom Scramble and Spiced Sausage Hash were also tasty!

And no one can ever go wrong with a Mickey Waffle…at Topolino’s they even have Minnie Waffles! Our kids all enjoyed their meals – especially the sausage (there is a plant based sausage as well and I’ve read that it’s delicious).

What Should I Wear to Topolino’s Terrace Flavors of the Riviera Breakfast a la art with Mickey & Friends?

I personally appreciate that Disney has a dress code for their theme parks and restaurants. Although it is not something that I have seen cast members really adhere to in regard to guest attire.

There is a dress code listed on Disney’s website for dining at Topolino’s Terrace at Riviera Resort. It is for dinner only and it is asked for guests to dress accordingly with “respects the restaurant’s sophisticated and upscale aesthetic.”

I have not dined at Topolino’s for dinner but at the character meal, I have seen a variety of outfits worn. Some guests dress up, even doing a bit of cosplay in outfits that match the ones the characters are wearing.

Other guests wear more standard theme park attire. With the location of Riviera Resort being on the Skyliner and just a quick ride over to Hollywood Studios, many guests include breakfast as part of their Disney World trip and take advantage of the location by heading straight to the theme parks!

I’m personally a fan of dressing in coordinating Disney-themed attire as a family. I try to keep it casual and comfortable but also cohesive and match the environment to the best of my abilities.

The French theme is very cute and the red and black in Minnie’s outfit is especially easy to draw from!

Tips for Getting a Reservation for the Topolino’s Terrace Character Breakfast

Advance dining reservations are recommended and also extremely tough to get!

Disney dining reservation bookings for table service restaurants open 60 days in advance at 6 AM EST. Guests staying on-property at a Walt Disney World Resort are able to book dining reservations 60 days prior to their check-in or reservation arrival date.

Popular dining locations can be very difficult to secure reservations.

—-> Even though on-property guests get a slight advantage for booking dining, I still do NOT recommend staying on property for your Disney World Trip – here’s why!

One of my favorite tips is to use Touring Plans Reservation Finder. Touring Plans is an excellent resource for planning your Disney World vacation (it has crowd calendars and even an option to help create a personalized park itinerary). After creating an account you’re also able to take advantage of the reservation finder which will notify you when reservations become available! Learn more here!

It is also wise to continue checking in on availability as Disney has been known to release more reservations closer to dates. I always am sure to check 60 days prior and then again 30 days, 2 weeks, etc.

My first visit to Topolino’s was with friends of mine and we secured our reservation the night prior! People frequently make changes to their travel plans so you never know when something may open up!

But the BEST (top secret) tip I learned recently for securing a reservation for Topolino’s Character Breakfast…is to not make one at all.

Yup, that’s right. WE WALKED UP.

Party of 7. In July. We arrived at Riveria Resort at 7 AM and were the first in line waiting in the hallway outside the restaurant when they opened their doors at 7:30 AM. And we were seated with no issues whatsoever.

Is it a bit of a gamble? Yes. But I’ve learned that if you arrive 30 min or so prior to a restaurant opening most Disney dining locations will be able to seat you.

The Disney dining reservation program is designed to automatically space out reservations. So rather than releasing ALL the tables in the restaurant to be able to be booked at the opening, the tables are staggered in order to create a smoother running experience for everyone (from guests to servers to even characters). This means there are typically always available tables first thing in the morning.

There is nothing quite like the rush of excitement when scoring a hard-to-get Disney reservation and walking up and being seated at a table was an extra exciting thrill!

Our Experience at Topolino’s Character Breakfast

I was SO excited about our breakfast at Topolino’s Terrace in celebration of Tess’s 8th birthday. Not only was it her birthday wish to have a character meal…but it was also our first time in over 2 years getting to enjoy a character meal as a family!

Each of the character interactions was SO special. Tess was the first one in each character’s arms for a giant hug and Spear held hands with Daisy and didn’t want to let go. It was PRECIOUS.

The photos and moments from our morning are super special to me. Even almost a year later I have them as my phone wallpaper and every time I look at them I smile.

I love character meals because it’s such a relaxed environment. No long lines or waiting forever to meet characters. We have THE best character interactions at character meals because WE are more relaxed too. We don’t feel rushed and the moments don’t feel forced.

Sure, I love to meet Mickey Mouse at Magic Kingdom but to be able to enjoy a meal and have Mickey Mouse come to US? It’s such a better experience!

When Donald came around to our table, for example, my youngest (Spear) was a little apprehensive so we didn’t put pressure on him – he could choose to give Donald attention or skip it! No biggie!

Final Thoughts on Topolino’s Terrace Character Dining

We will for sure return to Topolino’s Terrace in the future. Not only was the food delicious and the character interactions fun, but the entire location added to the experience!

The dining room is beautiful and the natural light at the rooftop location made the meal more inviting! We loved getting the chance to explore the Riveria Resort and loved the views from the rooftop following our meal (don’t miss out on going on the deck where you can see THREE of the four Disney theme parks and watch the Skyliner in action!).

Yes, the meal was pricey but it was well-worth it for the magical memories!
