Whenever I’m pregnant Zach and I always put together a list of things to do around the house prior to the baby’s birth. We know that a new baby means a lot of household stuff gets put on the back burner for awhile so we try to knock as much off as we can while I’m pregnant to make life easier when the new baby arrives.
While I was pregnant with Tess one of the things Zach did was WD40 all of our doors. We’ve lived in our house for almost 5 years now and we all know a squeaky door will wake a sleeping baby! We thought it was smart to just go ahead and do it to all our doors to make for a nice and quiet atmosphere in our home.
Welllllll we quickly regretted that decision!
Now all of our doors shut on their own. We can’t keep any doors open because they will automatically close! I don’t know if our house is like on a tilt or something or if that WD40 just worked too well but it’s so annoying. I think we’d both agree we’d rather have our squeaky doors back!
We have to leave our master bedroom and master bathroom doors open all day long as our cat has his food and litter box in our bathroom. Having those doors shut on their own has been a major annoyance for us. We have been using some hardcover books as door stops but I have been in the process of trying to find something more aesthetically appealing and something that goes with our home decor style.
As I’ve been on the doorstop hunt I happened to get contacted by UncommonGoods and was asked to review some of their products. Guess what they happen to carry in their Home Goods department? Yup! Super cute doorstops that perfectly match our beachy style! You can see all the items featured in their Home Goods department here!
If you’ve never heard of UncommonGoods it is a privately owned company out of New York that features unique designs and handcrafted gifts in harmony with the environment and without harm to animals or people. Half of what they sell is made by hand (hello unique looks!) and most of what they sell is made in the USA!
I love all their housewarming gift ideas here…a housewarming gift is the perfect time to give a unique gift that can be cherished in their new home! I also LOVE all of the artwork featured on UncommonGoods. I’m really feeling the itch to update areas of our home and would love to incorporate some of these distinct designs!
In addition to all the fun products they sell on their site, they also have a super awesome blog that features tidbits of Uncommon Knowledge! Who doesn’t love some random facts, right? Plus it’s SO awesome the way this company gives back. UncommonGoods is a privately owned business and has contributed over $1,000,000 to charity organizations. It feels good to support a company who supports others in need. Plus my doorstops are dang cute 😉
You can see the doorstops I received here!
We are loving our new doorstops! They are SO much better than the books we were using and the handles make it super easy to move them if we do need to close the door (Mommy and Daddy need privacy occasionally, right?). I’m so thankful to UncommonGoods for the chance to receive a much-needed product AND learned a valuable lesson to never WD40 our doors again 😉
