Valentine’s Day 2014

I was looking forward to Valentine’s Day this year! It fell on a Friday and Kye had off school so I thought it’d be a good chance to really celebrate the day πŸ™‚ I am NOT big on holiday decorating. I wish I was that kind of mom that got really into it, but I don’t. The only “decorating” we do for Valentine’s Day is to set out our Valentine’s Day box. Growing up we had one and Mom kept it out in the weeks leading up to Valentine’s Day and as we made little cards and such for family members, we would add it to the box and then on Valentine’s Day we’d open everything πŸ™‚ It’s fun!

For Kye’s school Valentine’s this year I was, again, on the hunt for something non-candy. I hate to be “that mom” but I totally am. I feel like every day Kye comes home with junk food! Pinterest has TONS of free printable ideas and I ended up going with this one! I then ordered a bag of little toy dinosaurs from Amazon for like $6 for 80 of them (yes, we have dinosaurs everywhere now). Cheap, cute, and candy-free! I just simply printed off the printable onto card stock, cut them out, and hot glued the dinosaur on. Then Kye sat and filled out the back of them with who they were each for πŸ™‚

He took SUCH pride in writing each and every card πŸ™‚

 Party day at school!

They decorated Valentine’s Day boxes at school

 All of his goodies!

On legit Valentine’s Day I invited over some friends who also didn’t have school that day. Crissy’s crew got sick and couldn’t come but Mrs. Charlotte brought over Colt and Payton for our fun Valentine’s themed morning!

Crocs were her choosing πŸ˜‰

Both shirts were from Old Navy πŸ™‚

First up, we decorated cookies. I was too sick over Christmas to enjoy my fav treat: home made Christmas cookies! So I thought it’d be fun to make them again but do heart shapes for Valentine’s Day. Ironically, I still didn’t eat all that many of them! But it was fun to decorate and we sent some home with everyone who was there πŸ™‚

Casey is always down for some themed fun πŸ˜‰

Colt was not feeling quite right, I felt so bad for him! He had hurt his back or something the day prior and just wasn’t his normal self. He’s also a very typical dude…he wasn’t into decorating cookies or cards haha. Which cracked me up b/c it’s such a guy way to be ya know? He was more pumped to play in the playroom after!

 Card decorating!

Sweet Colt loves his cousin πŸ™‚

Payton does too! They all kept making cards for each other and I was like WHERE IS MINE?!?! πŸ˜‰

 Cousin Love!

Everyone left before lunch! I made the kids heart shaped sandwiches and pink smoothies πŸ™‚

After lunch the kids opened their goodies from G-Mama. This princess ribbon wand she found at Target was a HIT. Seriously, I need to go get a couple more to stock up for when it breaks πŸ˜‰

Reading the Frozen book she got them!

Building with magnablocks before nap

Once Zach got home from work that afternoon it was time for our box opening! I bought new wrapping paper for it this year and recovered the whole thing. It needed the update and it looks so much better πŸ™‚

Britt was SO pumped about her little makeup brush! I had it extra and knew she would love having her own πŸ™‚

First chapter book! I plan to read it with him πŸ™‚

The big gift this year was a simple one…I put together some new cds for my car. We don’t spend much on Valentine’s Day and I knew the kids would LOVE some fresh music! A bunch of the songs from Frozen as well as other Disney ones I didn’t put on CD the first time around. It ended up being two discs and they were PUMPED. We put the cd on for them and they danced like crazy to “Let It Go”

Here is a video! I love Britt’s beautiful singing voice πŸ˜‰

Of course I had to get Zach some FSU National Championship gear πŸ™‚

And I got Leo the Dr Seuss book for in utero…

Which, btw, I can’t really say I recommend…I don’t really like it and it’s a bit too long and doesn’t flow as easily as the typical Dr Seuss books.

Britt also got a “Big Sister” book! So they read that before bed!

Once the kids were down it was time for our celebration! And how did we celebrate? ALIGATU!!! It’s a local Japanese steak house and has the best seafood/yum yum sauce. I’d been craving it for weeks and was so beyond pumped about it! I wish we could have some more RIGHT NOW πŸ™‚ As my gift Zach gave me a gift card to Chicken Salad Chick. The Aligatu was gift enough though for sure πŸ˜‰

We had a nice little Valentine’s Day and I loved getting to make an entire themed day with it! While I know Kye LOVES school, it’s so fun to have him home on occasion too!

I LOVE Kye's shirt. It's quite possibly the most awesome thing ever.
